This medication has been a life-saver for my son since he was one year old...without it, I feel he would be very unhealthy from not eating well (due to pain) and even possibly have more medical issues caused by the reflux not being controlled. *The pros - this medication doesn't seem to have major side effects and can be taken in different doses, this generic version of Prilosec is much less expensive, can be used in children or adults *The cons - this medication is not immediately acting (need to take for up to 14 days before experiencing complete relief), can still have break through acid attacks (but this is the case w/ any reflux medication), and this medication must be timed around eating in order to work

Works as well as the name brand and keeps my GERD/Heartburn away. Don't miss a day if you have bad heartburn. Effectiveness Works well and keeps on working as long as you do not miss a dose. Ease of Use Pills can be difficult to pop out of the packaging. Immediacy Takes some time to work.

What a lifesaver! I take this generic about 3 days a week for acid reflux. Even when I have gone far too long without it goes to work fast. The price for the generic is much more affordable and has the same ingredients as Prilosec so I refuse to invest in it since the Omeprazole does the same. It's kind of difficult to say anything about it in detail. only that it works better than any other acid reducer that I have used. Effectiveness It works well even for a part-time taker like myself Ease of Use It is easy to swallow and must dissolve quickly because I get relief very quickly Immediacy For being a pill that should be taken daily to be effective I am extremely pleased with the results when I need quick relief

As a several times per week heartburn sufferer, I have tried many different remedies. I have found Omeprozole to be quite effetive for my heartburn pain. It is most effective when I remember to take it earlier in the day (i.e. afternoon) as I tend to get heartburn at night. I have tried prilosec as well as the generic omeprozole and find them to work equally as well. The effets are not immediate, but omeprozole works well and has sucessfully helped me to prevent heartburn. Effectiveness Omeprozole is quite effective when taken in advance of symptoms. If I already have heartburn symptoms, it still works, but it takes a while to feel the effets.

I have been taking 40mg of Omeprazole each morning, as prescribed by my dr. I usually don't have heartburn throughout the day, but around dinner time and throughout the night I have bad heartburn. The Omeprazole just doesn't last long enough. My dr. just recommended that I start taking 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg at night. We'll see if that works better.

Omeprazole is awesome. First off, it's a fraction of the cost of Prilosec and its the SAME thing! I have used both Prilosec and Omeprazole. I have not noticed any difference in either one... they both work great! Omeprazole has the same perks and downsides as Prilosec. Perks: No heartburn! As long as you take it in time. Another perk, like i said earlier, it is much cheaper!!! Downsides: You have to take it 24hrs in advance. So, that is not always feasible. And just like the Prilosec, I've noticed that the more you take it, the less effect it has. So, I try not to take it too often. Generally, I can control my acid by eating healthier and taking tums for smaller acid problems. Anyways, its basically my favorite OTC heartburn pill. I use it when my body is going all acid-crazy... but generally i use tums for smaller things. Omeprazole is a great option and i recommend it to everyone, especially to those that are hooked on Prilosec. Go save some money! :)

I had stomach cancer in 2007 where they had to remove 33% of my stomach and 33% of my esophagus and I was told that due to this I would have heartburn for the rest of my life since the smaller stomach will still create the same amount of acid.  I have taken many different types of heartburn medications, whether over the counter and prescription, and by far the best so far is Omeprozole.  I take 40mg twice a day once in the morning and once before bed and it works wonders.  I have the prescription brand, but I have also used the over the counter box and they are spectacular.  If it was not for the Omeprozole I would not be able to function normally in the everyday world.  I have had to change my eating habits as well as my life style, but with omeprezole it has all been worhtwhile because it takes care of all the heartburn that i get.  I recommend this product to anyone who has heartburn occasionally!!!

I have a hienal hernia.  And my Dr. has me take one capsule everyday And you know it works I do not get the pain in the middle of my stomach like I used to it works great.  Also Not a lot of people know but you can get your Dr. to give you a perscription and your insurance will Pay for Omeprazole.   My husband also has an ulser and takes 2 capsules a day and since he has been takeing it his stomach does not bother hime like it used to. A great product for the money.

I have epilepsy and I cannot ever take heartburn medicine because of the ingredients. Ritodine causes me to have siezures. Then along came Omeprazole and all of that changed. I no longer have to suffer with heartburn and siezures. This product has not caused any issues. I am finally heartburn free. God bless and again thank you

I've had IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for almost 30 years.  My main symptom is nausea - debilitating nausea.  After that many years I am very attuned to my symptoms and where they originate.  About two years ago I started getting a different type of nausea -- it felt as if it were higher up in my digestive tract.  I could feel it all the way up to my throat.  I scheduled an appointment with my Gastroenterologist; and he stated that people who have had IBS for an extended period of time usually progress in their symptoms; and many times it manifests itself in acid reflux.  He prescribed Omeprazole (generic Prilosec).  Within 7 days my upper Gi nausea had totally disappeared.  I take one capsule in the morning; and relief lasts all day.  I can count on one hand the incidents of upper Gi nausea that I've had in the past year. If you're suffering from acid reflux, I urge you to see your doctor.  Chances are the solution could be simply a prescription such as Omeprazole.  Omeprazole can also be purchased over the counter.  I make no health claims for this medication; and you should never start taking medication of any kind without checking with your doctor first.
