My father-in-law recently spent two entire weekends helping my husband to install a new boiler for our heating system. He wasn't expecting any kind of repayment for his efforts, but I wanted to send him something as a token of our appreciation. We had already sent him a Lobstergram in the past, so we decided to take a look at Omaha Steaks for a thank-you gift.
The timing was perfect and I hit a 60% off sale that allowed me to get 4 ribeye steaks that usually cost $85 for only $35 plus shipping. They kept sending me emails touting 50-60% off sales, so my husband decided to order a meal package (4 steaks, 6 hamburgers, and 4 stuffed potatoes) as a birthday present for a friend and 4 steaks and 8 hamburgers for us to try out. With that order, the company threw in 6 hot dogs and 6 more burgers for free which was cool. We received the order within the week and it was still completely frozen sold in the styrofoam cooler despite the fact that temperatures were in the 70s that day.
OmahaSteaks.com is still sending my husband and I daily emails offering at least 50% off regular prices. It is fine... if we love the steaks and burgers, we will likely consider buying more if they continue with the good sales. That being said, the company has now started calling me each day on my cell phone. I didn't answer it at first, but today my curiosity got the best of me and I answered it. It was a sales rep offering me some "great deal" as a thank-you for placing an order. I declined and told them I was in the middle of work. The woman said "so we should call you in the evening?" I responded with "you shouldn't call me at all." I don't know if the calls will continue, but if they do, I won't consider ordering anything else from Omaha Steaks. That would be a shame because we have been very pleased with our experience with the company thus far.
