Great Point and Shoot for beginner to average photographer

4

I have loved Olympus cameras for basic point and shoot use for years. This is my 4th. While it take good pictures, it feels like a step down from my last Olympus (that was one of the original stylus models). There is greater lag time between pushing the button and the photo being taken, the loss of the dial on the back of the camera for setting means so much more hunting on the screen for the settings I am looking for. I love grabbing some quick video with this camera. I only wish I could zoom while shooting video. :( Overall, it is functional, intuitive, lightweight, compact and versatile. (If I hadn't had my previous Olympus that I loved, I would give this a higher rating overall.) Image Quality Certainly not DSLR but excellent for a point and shoot! Performance A little slow. Lag between button and shot being taken. Ease of Use A few too many things have to be done on the screen instead of the "old style" dials on the back of the camera. Durability I used my last one hard! It only died when dropped on an open and extended lens. Battery Life LOVE, LOVE, LOVe that this charges thru USB!!!! It does lose some charge if left in a cold car overnight. (Learned that the hard way. Oops!) Portability Fabulous! Easily fits in a pocket or purse. Of course, better to be stored in a proper camera case -- but with two small kids, that just never seems to happen!

This is my third Olympus camera. I have had to send a camera in twice to be repaired and they offer excellent customer service, which is the primary reason I keep coming back to Olympus. This model is a great for someone like me - I'm not a professional photographer, but I am a mom with 2 kids who likes to take pictures at school events or in the park. This model does an exceptionally good job capturing action shots. In helping out us "non photographers" this camera has the usual settings - and the ones I use most are "Fireworks" "Self Portrait" and "Night plus Portrait" I have also had occasion once or twice to use the "Document" setting and that has come out very well. This camera also has great red eye reduction - a lot of models have it as a feature but you still spend lots of time afterwards in the editing software afterwards getting rid of it - but this one works more than half the time. The stability feature - to hold the picture steady when your hand isn't - also works better on this model than on any other that I've tried. I also like that it has a rechargeable battery. The battery charge lasts me several months and the charger conveniently plugs into the wall. The software that comes with it is just ok; I prefer using iPhoto.

Olympus 7010 Digital Camera: Thumbs Up

5

The Olympus 7010 Digital Camera is a great value for the money, with a 7x zoom and 12 megapixels. Its the smallest digital camera on the market with a 7x zoom, so its versatile and portable. Drawbacks: There is no optical finder and the zoom is slower than you may find with other models. As a result of the zoom there can be some impact on picture quality despite the zoom stabilization, which is a trade-off. The interface is easy but there but there is no hand grip. It comes with a battery recharger so you save money on batteries. It is a very easy camera for almost anyone to use straight out of the box. I definitely recommend this tiny camera, it is a great value for the money, it is portable, easy to use and has an incredible zoom.

Olympus stylus 7010 is a fun point and shoot camera

The Olympus Stylus 7010 point and shoot camera is a good starter camera for novice photographers.  It has easy settings for basic camera use.  It has a decent zoom and 12 megapixels for excellent pictures.  I really like the large "hyper crystal view" screen, with it's vibrant colors.  Most of the settings are very simple to use.  I was a little surprised by the "special" style of battery it uses and was a bit disappointed when I first bought it, as I wanted to use it right after I got it, and had to charge the battery first.  I was pleased that the camera came with the battery charger and that I didn't have to buy it seperately.  The battery holds a charge for a fair amount of time also, which is nice.  I wish the camera had a few more features, such as night sky, and a better zoom.  Overall, it's not a bad camera, it just isn't a camera with all the bells and whistles.  It's a great camera for a beginner, or someone who doesn't like running your camera manually, but if you like doing any settings in a manual mode, I'd find a different camera.

Love it!

I love this camera!  The family and I bought this digital camera a couple of weeks ago.  Even though it hasn't been long, I really like this camera.  A couple of the things that I love is that about this camera is that it is FABULOUS with close ups.  It shows great detail and colors!  I love to take close ups on plants, they look like they were taken by a professional!  Another thing that I love is that I can edit the pictures on the camera, so I don't have to edit pictures on the computer.  The only complaint I have with the editing is that not all pictures can be edited.  in some photos, I click on perfect fix, but when I try, it says "image cannot be edited".  This is quite annoying, but I can always edit them online.  Another thing that I love about the camera is that on sport mode, the photos look like they were taken perfectly still.  I took a photo of a loving ceiling fan, and it looked PERFECT!  Just amazing.  This camera is FANTASTIC!

Nice little camera for the price

I bought this to replace a Kodak 8 megapixal camera I received a few years ago.  While I loved my Kodak the Olympus is such a huge improvement.  This camera is 12 megapixal which allows me to print larger pictures that have excellent quality to them.  This camera has lots of features and "extras" and is well priced.  The feature I like best is the anti-shake stabilizer.  With my other camera I used to get a number of slightly blurred pictures because my hands had some shake to them and when that would happen even printing a 4x6 showed the blur and obviously you couldn't print anything larger.  I lost a number of otherwise good pictures this way. This has a number of options for your picture, night, fireworks, snow, etc.  I have a 6 year old grandson and dogs and cats who are always on the move and don't always hold still for a picture but this camera adjusts for this automatically.  On past cameras I needed to set it for motion, on this camera you can either do that or it adjusts itself for the type of picture you are taking. I'm enjoying it greatly and for the price it was a great buy.
