I'm not a good image taker, I figured that since I was going on holiday something better than my smartphone might be a good idea, as everything I try to take an image of with my phone turns out either slightly off or not in focus properly. Now that I got this camera I can officially say that everything in the bad photos was my fault, I was getting the same results when I was using this camera at first, blurred edges, out of focus or not fully focused images, as it turns out that I'm not using the fuctions of this camera good enough. After years of leaving the CPU in my camera to do everything for me to take images I've not even though of adjusting anything on this camera when I was trying to take my first batch of images from my window out into the street, what I got back were poorly taken images of over-exposed quality, too dark images, images that caught nothing other than dust, and you get the picture. While on holiday I slowly learn't to use this camera and the functions it has much better and slowly got better results as the holiday went on. Image Quality Great if you know what you are doing, if not you will get some bad results Performance I've not had any issues with the camera other than my poor handling Ease of Use Point and click is very easy, but some of the more useful functions are in photography jorgon, so it might take some getting use too, but as a simple point and click this is excellent. Durability I've dropped this camera from head high more than once, on one occasion it even fell down some stone stairs, I though that would have been the end of the camera there and then, but other than a few dints it still worked fine and nothing seemed to have broken, thou I do not advised you try this. USE THE STRAP, yeah that strap you see everyone else using with their expensive cameras? use it, don't be like me and leave it in the box. Battery Life Normally two days worth of use before I even need to consider charging the beauty. Portability Not as portable as a smartphone I respect, but as a very impressive image capture device I cannot complain.

This is a nice intro interchangeable lenses camera. Even so it's a lot better than Canon S110 under low light. It's still not as good in performance as similar Sony product such as Sony Nex-7. During low light, when I shoot with ISO200 without flash, sometimes, the images show red background. The later model Olympus E-PL5 has better performance, however, it doesn't contain build-in flash. I am not sure how to turn off the shooting sound even so I set it as "No Sound" on the setting. It gets annoying. As for the video, it has decent video 1280 x 720 (30 fps). Overall, I think this camera has too low image resolution (12MP), there are plenty of newer + smaller interchanged lense camera on the market. The size of this camera is 115 x 72 x 42 mm. Only if fits with 17mm or 20mm pancake lens will it fits in the pocket. Otherwise, its size is relative big when using the default 14-50mm lense. Also, the design of E-PL1 is a lot simpler than later E-PL line of camera. There are not just many functionality out there. It's a sufficient camera probably 4 years ago, however, it definitely not up to competition to any of the newer model as in size or image quality.

The Olumpus E-PL1 digital camera is an outstanding camera for someone looking for digital-SLR performance but in a small, portable package. The sensor on this camera can record nearly the same amount of information of its much larger DSLR bretheren. It saves space by not including the viewfinder and mirror of the larger, full sized SLRs. If you don't mind looking through the LCD to frame your shots then this is the perfect camera for you.The included kit lens is sufficient for nearly all of your shooting needs and the optional zoom lens will let you capture the action at sporting and other events like you're right there. The only negative comment I have about this camera is that the zoom motor is very audible during video recording. Unfortunately the built in mic picks up this noise as the camera tries to find focus while shooting a video. Otherwise the video and picture quality is great. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for quality above that of a standard point and shoot.

This is a great little camera.  It takes awesome pictures and in very light and compact.  It is great for first time DSLR users because it is very easy and simple to use.  I have been able to take some very great pictures using the fast shutter speed.  If you buy another lens then you might have to buy an adapter for it.  The new micro four thirds technology is great because it allows the camera body to be small.  You won't believe how much smaller it is than the normal DSLR cameras.  I love the different art filters being built in becuse it allows you to play around to get the effect you want for your pictures.  As I am an inexperienced DSLR user I have found this camera to be easy to use and with a great price tag.  They run around what a normal entry level DSLR runs.  The compact body allows it to be taken just about anywhere and you don't feel like you are lugging around a suitcase.  I would highly recommend this camera to a beginner and experienced photographer.
