We have owned several digital cameras in the last 7 years and had to replace each one because they got dropped. This camera is waterproof and it is supposed to be very durable. So far we haven't used it underwater, but yes, it has been dropped a couple of times and my infant grandson was sucking on it and there were no problems. I want cameras that are simple to use, I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. So far I have felt very comfortable using it and I'm pretty pleased with the quality of the pictures. The one thing I don't like is that I feel it is a little slow in taking the picture. I take tons of pictures of my grandsons, and babies and toddlers move fast, so you have to be ready in an instant to capture the moment. The video itself is good, but the quality of it isn't the greatest and it consumes too much memory for the quality of the video itself.I haven't sat down and read the manual over or played with it a whole lot, so it's possible it just may need to have an adjustment made. I do like the digital viewfinder, and I think my only request would be that it came in other colors (at least when I bought it no other colors were available). In general, I'm pretty happy with it.

I bought this camera right before a week long trip down the Green and Colorodo rivers in southern Utah.  The Water, Shock, and freeze proof features are what sold me on this model since I take similar trips often.  The  camera performed as advertised, very rugged and durable.  I have used it underwater and have lost it in a river, it stayed submerged for over an hour before i found it and it still works flawlessly.  The picture quality is good, i have seen point and shoot models with better picture quality but none of these were as rugged or durable.  With a 2 gb memory card it can store nearly a thousand pictures.  It also shoots pretty good video.  The olympus software makes it easy to transfer pictures to a computer.  All in all this is a great camera, mine has endured sub-freezing nights, many drops and hits, has been submerged in water and mud, and has endured desert dust storms.  Very rugged and durable.

Olypus Stylus 1030SW is almost indestructable.  You can drop it, go underwater, and it has a feature to take moving pictures as well as videos.  It is lightweight and compact.  I bought both of my children one and they love it too.
