To the Point

When my friend suggested that we go to the new Olive Garden Italian Restaurant in Plymouth, MA I was delighted. It had been awhile since I'd been to one. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A Closer View

The restaurant is open from 11:00a.m. to 10:00p.m. Mondays through Fridays and until 11:00p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Their address is 102 Colony Place Road which is exit 7 off of Route 3.

They do not take reservations.

They do have a children's menu.

They accept checks, cash, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

Décor

I was impressed with how pretty this new restaurant is. There are four rooms. The one to the left houses a large bar and tables. We sat in a room that had stone walls and high ceilings with wood beams. The next room had a fireplace in the middle and the last room looked a bit formal.

Olive Garden puts itself out to be an Italian restaurant and it is in that most of the foods are pasta-based however they serve beef, chicken and seafood as well.

Service and Food

We were seated right away and very pleasantly. My friend said that on weekends and even during the day for dinner you will wait.

Our waitress was very nice. She greeted us warmly and came over to give us seconds. She was happy to grate cheese for us and would have put as much on our food as we wanted. We got the all you can eat soup, salad and breadsticks. There were a few soup choices. We picked minestrone which was quite good -filled with veggies and pasta. The salad iwas delicious really because of the dressing. There isn't much in it except iceberg lettuce, a few large slices of tomatoes, onions and croutons. I didn't have the breadsticks but they looked soft and buttery. My friend said they were good. We got all this for $7.99 each.

In other Olive Garden Restaurants I've had ichicken with broccoli and red peppers in a deliciously seasoned sauce mixed with bow tie pasta and a shrimp dish served with onions and red peppers mixed with penne pasta in a marinara sauce. The menu can be seen at www.olivegarden.com but you will see that you are told that menus may differ by locations.

I thought it odd that our waitress asked us if the bill was all set when we handed her the money/credit card holder. Usually I, as a customer, would say "It's all set" if it were.

Jo's Viewpoint

I like it!

On 8/21 went to the Plymouth Olive Garden with my wife at approx 2:45 pm In the bar lounge area were two empty booths and three tables. The Hostess and greeter refused our request to sit in the booth and with their bad attitude as if we were not wanted, They said there were no servers available( OH REALLY) They began to look at each other and rolled their eyes...When I saw that, my wife and I left....If I owned a restaurant and had greeters like that...They would be looking for new work....I have had this experience before by the same people but enough is enough...When greeted by others, it was a enjoyable experience great wait staff and food...I tried to contact the manager that day by phone but was unavailable to hear my complaint.
I went to another restaurant and it will be a while before I go back to the Plymouth O G

I really like going to Olive Garden. It is good food without a big price tag. I prefer Carrabba's but it is a little more expensive.

They are having the all you can eat pasta here right now and my husband is driving me crazy to go. I'm sure we will be going before the week is over!

Good review!

Yes, the breadsticks are overrated. They used to be really good about 20 years ago but now they're just blah. I do love the soup and salad though. We had that yesterday.

I go down to our local one every so often. I agree with Cyndi's comment about breadsticks - too thick and doughy. Good review, Jo!

I really hate the breadsticks at Olive Garden. It's a nice place, but they ought to get some real bread. They would not like those bread sticks in Italy. I lived over close there. This is the wrong bread, but I know lots of folks do love it.
