Old Town Loon 15 Tandem Kayak - —

To the Point

We were recently camping in New Hampshire on Danforth Bay. Twice we took out the Loon 15 T Tandem Kayak by Old Town. This is a two person kayak thus the name Tandem.

A Closer View

We've gone kayaking many times. I think the Loon was the best kayak we've had for a number of reasons.

  • There was so much leg room and space in the front under the hull.
  • The seats were comfortable and adjustable even after a couple of hours my butt nor legs were numb.
  • It was sturdy and steady going through the water easily.
  • It had a dry compartment and an area on the top on which you could strap whatever you wanted.
  • It is considered a beginner's paddler who want a short and stable boat.
  • Two of us could carry it to the water and then put it back up on the rack for kayaks and canoes.
  • The Loon 15 T Tandem Kayak by Old TownTandem has a sliding bow seat and extended foot peg tracks so you can paddle alone if you want.

The size from http://www.oldtowncanoe.com/kayaks/tandem/loon_15t.html where you'll see a nice picture of the Loon kayak.

It is 14 feet 11 inches long by 30 inches wide. The Loon 15T weights 74 pounds. The cockpit is 17 1/2 inches by 81 1/2 inches with a maximum load of 575 pounds.

The Loon has a one-year warranty.  The price is around $900.00

Looks like a nice little lake kayak. I've never heard of Old Town, so I assume it's an "east coast" kinda thing. Nice review.

I like the fact it has lots of leg room. Being scrunched up would ruin the trip for me!
