About a week ago, while showering I reached out to get my shave cream can and when I pressed the button, a little bit managed to dribble out of the spout and then nothing! I have to admit this didn't take me by complete surprise. I mean, I could feel the can getting lighter. I knew the end was near. I just never think that the end is going to be today. So I lathered up with soap and got through the shave. Shave cream goes on the list.

Later, at Publix, I walk down the skin-care aisle and pick up some Gillette Fusion Gel. Since I use their razor, why not use their gel. Truth is, this is all new to me. As far as I'm concerned one gel has always been just as good as the other. And at that moment, that idea popped back into my head. My eyes searched for the Edge or with any luck the Barbasol Gel. When I was ready to grab the Barbasol ($2.59 for 7ozs), I spotted the Old Spice High Endurance Ultra Protection Shave Gel.

Was it that it boasted it was 3X Complete that convinced me to blow off the Barbasol? Heck, I don't even know what that means! No, it was the $2.19 price. Plain and simple it was the economy. I freely admit, I do have some odd price quirks. Shave Cream is one of them.

My Next Shave
The next morning when I shaved, I paid no attention to the new brand. I wasn't looking for anything new. I just wanted my morning shave. So when I started to rub it into my beard I was surprised to find that it was developing body, actually getting thicker as it was also growing in volume. Odd sensation. It really did make my already smooth Fusion Razor feel that much smoother.

it was only then that I read a portion of the can. The 3X Complete refers to it being a pre-shave lube, shave gel and skin soother all in one. Now where the boundaries lie between one function and the next escapes me. Truth be told, I couldn't care. It was providing me a very comfortable shave and that was all I really cared about.

I should mention that it doesn't have the classic Old Spice Fragrance, so Baby Boomers won't experience a flashback to the early 60's and expect dad to walk out of the bathroom slapping Old Spice on his face.

My Viewpoint
I'm going to buy it again. And, this time it won't be to save a half a buck. This time I'll buy it because I prefer it. If you use a shave gel you might want to give this a try; I think you'll be pleased. And they said there was nothing new under the sun.

My dad did use Old Spice. Hubby hates anything with a smell! Jo
