I have always had a hard time finding pants that fit. I'm slim in the hips and legs, and I don't have much of a behind. Missy or women jeans in the even sizes just don't work for me. They come up way too high - like almost to my bra. Then they sag on my behind. The legs are always WAY too wide for my legs.
Levi and Lee both make jeans that I can wear, but the colors are limited. It's often blue or nothing. Now and then I find a khaki color or a black.
Someone suggested that I try Old Navy, since they market heavily to teens. My friend told me that I'd probably find some slim made jeans and more variety.
Yippee! I did.
I saw some lavendar cords. Oh. This was love at first sight. I love lavendar. I grabbed the 14s and headed to the dressing room.
The sweet young man in the back asked if I'd like to try those on.
"Oh yes, thanks,"
He then said, "If I can get you another size or a shirt to match, let me know."
I looked down at those odd colored lavendar pants and at this 17-year-old kid and had visions of my son finding me a top to match. Trust me. This would not be good.
I couldn't resist.
"OK," I said. "A top would be great."
The young fellow paused and said, "Uh, maybe I should ask one of the girls about the shirt."
I told him I was teasing, but I did take him up on the sizes. He ran and got the 12 and 10, and it was the 10 I needed. Patty (our beauty diva here) will be fussing at me for getting 14 when I should know that's not right. Hard habits are hard to break. I've had this bad habit of wearing my stuff way too baggy. In this case, the 14s fell down if I did not hold them.
The jeans (when I got the right size) were perfect. They were comfortable. The rise is mid or right below my belly button. That's not very high on someone short waisted.
I don't go so much for those Old Navy tops. Too clingy for someone busty. The lavendar and the baby poo yellow jeans I bought were hard to match. I spent two days finding shirts, but I finally managed.
I also got the jeans in dark gray and in off white.
I passed on the fire engine red ones. I like red, but I wasn't so sure about those. I asked the teen sales girl about those. She said they might look OK at a rodeo. LOL. I wonder if I look like I go to rodeos? Good try on her part though.
Anyway, I have a better supply of pants now - and not all blue.
If you have problems fitting jeans for women which are usually roomy in the hips, thighs and behind, then drop by Old Navy. A lot of their pants are cut slimmer.
