Old Navy Pants —

I have tried quite a number of brands of baby clothes in the seven and a half years that I have been a mother, and Old Navy proves to be a good quality brand that is durable.

What I like about Old Navy baby pants:

  • durable--these pants have been through the wash numerous times with very little evidence of wear
  • warm--very thick material, which is especially helpful on cold days
  • elastic waist--my kids have reflux and elastic waistbands are a necessity because waistbands without any give tend to give my kids a bellyache--these pants tend to have less "give" than a lot of the 100% cotton baby pants that we have though
  • cute added feature of butterfly stitching near the top
  • don't wrinkle like a lot of the cheaper brands of clothing (except for the bow at the top)
  • easy care--I machine wash in cold and dry on medium heat
  • less expensive than many brands of baby clothing, especially the designer clothes

What I don't like about Old Navy baby pants:

  • These are 80% cotton and 20% polyester--perhaps more durable but not as soft as 100% cotton
  • Tag in the back--the tagless clothing tends to be more comfortable
  • The waistband doesn't have much "give," which tends to be a bit tighter on my baby than the 100% cotton pants that she has. She is quite small for her size, so a baby with wider proportions might be really uncomfortable in these pants
  • No cuff in the bottom of the legs--I have found that I really like the baby pants with a cuff at the bottom because they can get more wear out of the pants. If they are a little too big, the cuff will keep the pants away from the baby's feet to allow for easier walking and the cuff will help keep the pants legs from riding up while the baby is moving.
  • These pants are made in a country of which I've never heard
  • Old Navy is more expensive than some children's clothing, but they tend to have a higher quality material and workmanship

My Viewpoint:

These Old Navy baby pants are durable, practical, and easy care; however, the waistband does not have much give, they do not tend to be as soft as 100% cotton pants, and they are not American made. Old Navy does tend to cost more than the store brand baby clothing, but I have found the quality to be a bit higher and this brand tends to show very little signs of wear.

Several of my friends have given me children's clothes--I rarely every buy anything new anymore!

I love your comments on the cuffs--so true! I like Old Navy clothes but I rarely shop there. Instead I wait for a cousin from DC to send me her hand-me-downs (thanks Cricket). ~Gigi ♫
