I love this product - and hate this product!

Have used Old English Scratch Cover for years. It does a great job making scratches disappear, but the design of the bottle is BAD. With every bottle, no matter how carefully it's used, the liquid runs down the outside of the bottle, completely darkens the paper label, and runs to the base of the bottle. After several uses, you have to pick the bottle up with a paper towel or rubber gloves to keep from getting scratch cover on your hands and surfaces.

I use this on musical instruments with great results

This product is definitely worth buying because it really is protective and cleansing of fine woods, and I have a special purpose for it. I restore the luster on the surfaces of scratched up violins with it. I find old violins and violas at yard sales, scratched and dull from neglect and disuse I put a little of this product on a soft cloth and buff all over the surface of the instruments, and scratches become less apparent, and the shine returns to the varnish. It brings the life back into old and forgotten instruments. I also use this product to clean wooden tables and cabinets in the house, and small surfaces such as wooden music and jewelry boxes, and it removes dust and rejuvenates the surfaces with just a little buffing action.

A great product for scratches & nicks for your wood!

I love this product for revitalizing drap wood pieces and especially for doing away with scratches and nicks on your furniture. My mother and grandmother used this product for many years and told me about it. It really works great! You don't have to spend a lot of money for a pricey product - buy this instead and see how easily it works. I've used various applicators like a paper towel, q-tip, cotton ball - just depends on the spot or area you are needing to work on. You just need to be sure you have some rubber or plastic gloves on when using, as it will grab your skin!

Old English makes wood look new again

4

When my brother and sister in law were trying to sell their expensive home in a bad economy they asked for my help. It wasn't enough in my opinion to have fresh painted walls and clean looking carpet. Much of the wood needed a pick me up. I purchased the Old English, never using it before, I did not know what to expect. I found out really quickly though that you should be wearing some type of protective gloves because it will stain your fingers and especially under your nails. I started in the kitchen where all the cabinets and island was oak. Armed with a cotton ball and even a Qtip to get in the tiny crevices I began to wipe areas that had scratches or spots that were worn away with age. It was incredible the stain blended in with the old stain and it brought the kitchen to life. There is an oily residue with this product but I found that the wood would eventually suck it in. I was so impressed with Old English that I did all five bathrooms, their bedroom set and the desk. The house was shown to over 70 people before Old English and after Old English the house sold to the second viewing. Coincidence? Could be.

Old English is great to wipe away scratches on my desk!

My mom got this for me after I was despairing over the scratch marks that were all over my nice desk (a beautiful antique desk that was passed on to me from a family member).  I put a few drops of this on a rag and wiped it over my desk and I was astounded at how well it covered up the scratch marks!  It looks like a brand new desk.  I have several young children, and so things around here get well used and banged into by dump trucks and doll strollers on a routine basis.  I try to keep the furniture from being damaged too badly, but I'm also raising children, not just living in a museum.  I'm thankful to have found this scratch cover so that I can cover some of the damage so that my desk still looks nice.  While it might be wise to store the desk away in a storage area somewhere that just isn't very practical and I wouldn't be able to enjoy it that way.  If you have scratches on some of your furniture then give this a try!

Old English Scratch Cover doesn't really work on scratches.

I have a dark cherry dining room table that has some very light surface scratches on it.  I dislike the idea of covering my nice table up with a tablecloth, since it does have such a nice, glossy finish.  When I saw the Old English Scratch Cover for dark woods, I thought I'd give it a shot, since I use the Old English polish on all of my wood furniture in my home, and have found Old English to be a high quality brand.  I was very disappointed in the scratch cover.  As I said, there are only light surface scratches on my table, and even after a month of repeated applications of this products, I haven't noticed any difference.  Another con:  you MUST use a "scrap rag" to apply it, as it stains whatever cloth you put it on while using it.  It does only take a few drops to go a LONG way, which is good.  However, it also leaves a somewhat oily residue on wood surfaces.  It takes a lot of rubbing/polishing to get the residue off, and again, I only used a few drops for each half of my very long dining room table.  I would not recommend this product as a scratch cover at all!

I have 3 teenage boys & solid wood furniture, trim and doors all through my house. Old English scratch cover is my best friend! It makes scratches, water rings and etc disappear like magic. Much faster and easier than refinishing a piece of furniture for a few scraches, plus it protects and conditions the wood. Every house should have a bottle around. When one of our dogs decided to use the corner of my wooden coffee table for a chew toy I lightly sanded the area to get rid of the splinters then grabbed my bottle of Old English and it covered the area beautifully! No fuss and NO MESS. I love this stuff!!

I had no idea this product existed. A neighbor told me about it and viola! I will never be without it. I was bummed out about how bad all of our woodwork/doors looked. I was even more bummed out about having to hire someone to clean it all up. Then my neighbor told me about Old English Scratch Cover-it's like a miracle drug for woodwork! My woodwork, doors, cabinets all look brand new! I recommend that every household keep a bottle of this handy!!!

We have wood baseboards that somehow get a lot of wear and tear.  We think our dog is the primary culprit.  Old English Scratch cover is manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser and I'm telling you a couple quick wipes of this stuff with a cloth makes your wood look brand new!  It's a product that goes beyond just cleaning and actually conditions wood surfaces.  We love it!
