On a recommendation from a friend, I arranged a monthly lunch meeting at Okoboji's. The service was excellent and served in a timely manner. The menus were outstanding and very descriptive. The food is always good, although it is a bit more pricey than it is worth.  The desserts definitely are too small for the price.  The waitstaff can be either good or really bad.  I won't go back any time soon after the last time when the waiter rang up the bill incorrectly, was absent most of the... review »

appreciative of good service, willing to pay for quality, health conscious, noticing the details

I was surprised to see a review of Okoboji that was anything less than 5-Star.  I work on that side of town and we go there often at lunch.  The manager is always present and usually comes over to see how the food/service was.  The food is fantastic; I have not yet tried anything that I would not order again.  The buffalo chicken salad or the turkey bacon sandwiches are probably my favorites.  The portions are generous.  Warning: this is not low-calorie food;  I think they have a couple items for low-carbers, but it would be nice to have some other options as well.  Prices are probably... review »

Okoboji is Iowa Citian for over-priced bar food
eating out weekly, health conscious, frequent diner, not rich, appreciate nice things, into trying new things

Okoboji isn't a bad restaurant, but it's not great either. Their food tends to be boring and it's definitely over-priced. I believe the chefs mainly rely on butter, cheese, and salt to flavor dishes. The atmosphere is what you'd expect of a casual restaurant serving mainly bar food. Service is hit or miss; about 60% miss in my experience.

I don't know why anyone would bother going here with a great Mexican and equally great sushi restaurant in the same mall. Although, if you were in the mood for french fries...
