The first time I discovered this Asian market I was impressed by the large size and its cleanliness; it seemed well-stocked. Well today I've had second thoughts. I went back to get some more of the packets of pho (dry ingredients to make this Vietnamese national dish) that were more of a natural food product than most items of this type. I also had a few more items on my list. After wandering up and down the aisles a while and not finding what I wanted, I finally asked someone. The market was not crowded, but no one asked if they could help me. The first young woman seemed not to have ever heard of "pho," even though I showed what was written on the list. This bugs me because if one works in a store, they should know what's IN the store. (I'm used to markets like Trader Joe's where you can go to their info booth and ask about a product -- as in whether they still carry it, whether they'll order it for you, etc. and in Whole Foods you can also write a request for a certain item on a special pad and hand it in to them at their info booth.) So this employee then just wandered off and did not send anyone else to help me. I then asked two young women for help. They had apparently never heard of "black" soy sauce NOR pho. They did help me to find star anise and pointed me in the direction of the Chinese rice wine. I then asked a male employee. These employees did not appear to understand English very well and I asked him who did. He said the cashier. By this time I'd just about given up on anyone knowing where to find the items I was looking for. I think if someone is not able to help the customer, they should locate their supervisor or the manager so the customer might receive assistance -- instead of just wandering off. So I continued aisle-wandering on my own and finally found some pho packets, but these were NOT the ones I'd purchased earlier -- these two brands contained MSG, and I was looking for the more natural one. I could not find any black soy sauce at all. If a store has run out of something, they should listen to the customer's request and let them know when and if they will be getting more in, not just leave them to wander the aisles. These guys need to provide better customer service and better communication as they've now just lost a potential good customer. If the store can't help me when I ask for an item, they should attempt to order the product; advise me when more will be in; or if they have discontinued the product, to let me know this as well. They weren't rude, just not helpful enough. So it looks like I will not be going to this market again at all -- Downtown's Chinatown may be more crowded, but at least I'll have more of a chance to find what I'm looking for -- or I might try Clement Street's Chinatown next time.

i remeber one time i walk in 2cashiers one is old one is young they were glaring at me and the dumb manager was just looking out in space doing nothing standing there let the deli's take over the store cause i hate hate hate the cashier's and the manager.

the only thing i like about that ocean view market is the deli's the delis person are nicer than the cashier can you please fire 2cashiers the one with the clip long hair medium about 5'5 probably shes chinese small mouth small eyes ugly hair clip fire her

i have to say this but i really hate the cashier they are fucken ass hoes especailly the one with the dumb hair clip her station is the last one always talking to her dumb friends i hate her cause she fucekn fucken annoying and fucken and ass hoe
