I'm old school and not impressed by amazing graphics or games with too much of a plot. I love mindless games. Games that I call "test animal games" because they remind me of that mouse in the lab that pushes a lever to get food. Games that don't require much thinking but lots of clicking to move stuff around.
My latest obsession is called Alice Greenfingers by Oberon Media which I downloaded from Pogo recently. The object of the game is to move Alice around her small farm, water, tend, and harvest crops, and sell them at the local market.
As the game continues and Alice earns money from her farm which allows her to purchase more seeds, tools, decorations, and animals. It's really fun to design the way the crops are laid out on the land and to try to keep up with watering and harvesting. I've only got a few crops growing and am having loads of fun thinking of how to redesign things and getting everything boxed up and off to the market for sale. There's even a cool tab that shows what the market trends are and what the current demand for each crop is so it's challenging to keep the right things growing at the right yield and also pricing things correctly.
The graphics aren't great but they're adequate. When I first downloaded the free trial I was a bit disappointed with the graphics but they're absolutely fine; just not great like most modern games. When my free trial expired I happily purchased the full version and am having a good time playing with it. And it's only about 4mb so it doesn't hog up tons of space on my laptop.
4 stars! I played this game last night and completely missed the movie my husband had rented.
