I attended Oberlin College from 1961 - 1965. It was (and still is) wonderfully liberal and totally inclusive. The soundbite above was how the college was categorized by others during that time period.
It was the first co-ed college in the US and had the antiquated parietal rules of that time printed around the crown mouldings in the library. For example, "No two persons of the opposite sex shall be seen to be walking on the same path, in the same direction, at the same speed." That has changed, believe me.
High quality academic classes were my reason for attending, with the music conservatory's influence felt everywhere on campus.
I'd recommend it without reservation.
