Oxo Good Grips Meat Tenderizer: Tender mercies?

I have memories of being a young child in my grandmother's kitchen. She, with her apron on would be wielding a heavy mallet. A Steven King novel? No, chances are she was just whacking a cheap chuck steak to tenderize it so we'd think it was better than it was, or just flattening out some veal she was going to serve at dinner.

As an adult, I do most of the cooking in our home. Among my favorite dishes are Veal Picatta and Veal Marsala.Our local market always has some really nice thin veal fillets so there was little need for an old-fashioned tenderizer.

a must have in the kitchen

I ordered the Oxo 9 inch meat tenderizer and don't know how I lived/cooked without it. As a hobby, I like trying new recipes and this has come in very handy.....not only to tenderize meat but the other side pounds out meat like chicken breasts, etc.

It is heavy enough to do a great job but not really heavy....or too heavy. Big enough but not too big....fits in my utensil drawer nicely.

The handle is great for gripping....with rubber covering.

It did a great job pounding out chicken breasts so that I could stuff and roll them.

I like this oxo meat tenderizer. It is no fuss. It has the side w/ teeth and the flat side which works great on chicken. It is simple. Cleans well. Does a great job when I'm making chicken marsala. The chicken is even. The grip is good as well. Good value.
