I've always wanted a potato ricer after watching some of my favorite Food Network chefs use them on tv.  Yet, I never make potato dishes enough that I would actually buy a product specifically for it.  I did decide to splurge though and purchased the OXO Good Grips Potato Ricer.  I love the Good Grips line and this is probably my favorite kitchen gadget out of all of them.  The product itself is made of stainless steel and a real heavy-duty product.  It does have the signature grip on the handle part of the product. This product is so easy to use and it is also so fun to use!  Think of this product as a giant garlic press.  Put the potato in and push it through to get uniform strands of potato for perfectly fluffy mashed potatoes or potato pancakes.  I love cooking in the kitchen with my niece and she always has such a fun time using this product.  Its a great way for kids to interact with food in the kitchen!

The Oxo good grips potato ricer was an impulse buy for me. I am always on the hunt for the perfect (balnk) recipe. My latest quest involved mashed potatoes. I am very anti lump, and this is the tool everyone told me was the must have for smooth silky potatoes. I wasn't sure though. Well they were right. It is so simple to use. Just boil the potatoes and place it in the pot and then push down. It comes out lump free and whips up to a wonderful consistancy. I think for typical use it is ideal. However, I made a triple size batch for a party and it wore my arm out to use it that much so that is something to think about. How often will or how much will you be making? It is dishwasher safe. I washed it in the dishwasher but I just couldn't get it clean enough so I would recommend that you hand wash the ricer. A wonderful addition to any kitchen!

It's a great ricer.  I've had mine for a while now.  Works just as it should!  I am an experianced cook who uses it a few times a month.  The only complaint I have is that it's difficult to clean after use...

The only potato ricer I have ever used and wouldn't want to try another.  There are cheaper ricers available but they don't look as sturdy as this model.  Even being in pain and having weak hands and wrists it is not difficult to rice potatoes or other vegetables with this ricer.  If you have never used a ricer to make mashed potatoes, you've never made the bet mashed potatoes ever. This unit washes up niceley by hand or dishwasher. This is one of my few-must have in my kitchen items.
