I have always loved the look of crackle and I've tried a handful of different brands - all of which disappointed until I found the OPI. This is the best performing crackle style nail polish I've ever used. The other brands didn't have much crackling at all. This stuff give a great crackled effect within seconds of being applied! I was actually surprised by how well it worked. I have the electric blue too and man does it look awesome when paired with pink underneath :) Definitely finish off with a clear coat to make it last longer and have a nice shine.

I have to say, I am a fan of OPI and all the collections. When it comes to the shatter, I find it to be a huge waste of time. If you could use it on more than a few colors I would like it better, but I find with the colors I wear this is not the case.

The OPI Black Shatter is getting a lot of attention, and it is a really good product. It starts cracking very quickly, within 10 seconds I would say, and it also dries very quickly. It dries with a matte finish, so if you're not into matte polishes then go ahead and apply a top coat. I do like that the polish gives you the option between a matte and regular finish because then you can switch it up. However, it doesn't crack consistently, which was disappointing. If you apply a paper-thin coat, I found, the cracks are very thin, but if you apply a thicker coat the cracks are a bit wider, which I thought was strange (I had expected the opposite to happen). It also cracks a lot better on smoother polishes than glitter polishes that have a rough texture. Honestly, I have to say I like my Barry M crackle polishes better than OPI shatter because it cracks a lot better, but the OPI shatter is nice if you aren't able to get your hands on Barry M polishes.

I can see why everyone went crazy over OPI's black shatter. It's a great effect and it's a fast way to change up a boring old manicure. But I can also see why some people may not like it. The sheer entertainment factor of watching the coat "shatter" makes the bottle a must have for me. (and if you like watching it change try out a matte top coat like essie's matte about you. just as fun to watch!) There's so many different ways you can use this to acheive different affects. My friend reccomended swiping the brush horizontally across your nail for a different look! But I know that the result can be a bit too edgy for some people. I was kind of iffy about it at first. And depending on how do you put it on, it may wind up like you just have black gunk all over your nails. My advice would be to try either a glitter or a bright, contrasting color as the color coat. With a glitter coat, the shatter is a little less evident and that may be more your style. With a brighter color the shatter is very pronounced so try to get smaller fissures. The first time I used it I got giant cracks, which looked at times dirty and at times cool to me...But either way, I saw experimentation is the key to using this and figuring out what look you like best!

So glad I picked up two bottles of this when I could because now it is getting really hard to find. Sure, China Glaze has come out with their crack polish but I bought the turquoise one and it's just thick and icky. And all the photos I see of the ChG just doesn't look as good as the OPI. Like the other posters, I love experimenting with putting the black shatter over a nail color I've been wearing for a day or two. I also like angling it and brushing it on horizontal rather than vertical. AND IT KINDA LOOKS LIKE ANIMAL PRINT! Sally Hansen is coming out with crackle polishes soon and I think OPI is coming out with more as well. I remember when Cover Girl had it back in the 90's. I have a bottle of their yellow crackle. Just goes to show there is nothing new under the sun! Oh and p.s. you might as well buy a bottle of THINNER because it will get goopy if not thinned with THINNER.

I used to use crackle polish as a kid and I remembered how much fun it was to play around with and try different color combinations.I had not seen any crackle polish on the market for a long time now.When I saw OPI Katy Perry Collection Nail Lacquer in Black Shatter I had to get it for my girls. This works just like the crackle polish I used as a kid.My girls really enjoyed using it for a couple of weeks.The polish is easy to use.It is applied on top of any regular colored polish that you may like.When it is applied it starts to get cracks in it and will reveal some of the polish underneath of it.It is best when you use only one thick coat of this instead of a couple thin coats.The effect might not be suitable for everyone but its definitely fun to play around with.

What is there not to love about this nail polish! It creates the most amazing effect on nails. It makes your nails look like they were professionally done at the nail salon. I am so late to find out about this nail polish, but I don't care because it's so pretty. I used to get my nails done with cool designs every once in a while but each time I would love the design at first and then get bored with the design after a few days. I don't get bored with black shatter though. It's fun to try out different colors underneath, glitter polishes look amazing underneath. It's a fun and easy way to experiment with nail design. It takes a couple applications o get the technique down but it isn't difficult at all. The price is a little steep for me but I guessd it is worth it because it's so unique. There are other nail polishes that claim to have this shatter effect but from what I've heard they do not look nearly as nice as this one.

I honeslty was really excited about trying this product, and It is not all its cracked up to be. First of all the nialpolish did take a long time to dry. When it dried it did clump like its suppoed to, but I dont like the way it looked. It looked cheap and sleezy. Sorta like a childish appearance, Also I was not happy with the way is stayed on. I wasnt that upset about it because I didnt like it anyways, But it began to chip a day after I put it on. A few days into wearing it it was chipped all over and my nails looked awful. I dont do any sort of work that would make my nailpolish chip more then average Overall this product didi not last, and simply did not look great. I was not impressed, would not recommend
