O.P.I. nail polishes--where the name 'speaks' for itself!

Who doesn't want to be pampered every once in a while.  My vanity probably comes in my hair and nails.  I love to go to the nail salons and have my nails done professionally and one of the things I love to do--pick out my next nail polish.  Since I get my nails done professionally I am not really sure about the pro-wide brush.  I do have very thin and bony fingers with small nails.  When I do my nails at home I usually try to find a color in the Sally Hansen collection that will match the O.P.I. color so I can do my toes.  My nail salon doesn't sell their polishes anymore so I have to get my nails done at one and go to another if I want to buy the polish.

I was introduced to O.P.I. nail polishes when I asked a friend what she was wearing and she said, "I'm really not a waitress."  Well, duh!  I know you're not a waitress but what does that have to do with the question I asked?"  And she proceeded to tell me that was the name of her nail polish.  I think it takes a creative staff to do something like that.  Don't we get tired of the old names (red, mauve, pink, coral, plum, etc.).  O.P.I. has fun names.  There are approximately 200+ colors available right now and they are constantly introducing new ones.

The nail polishes are long-lasting and chip resistent.  The O.P.I. polishes are only sold thru professional nail salons and on websites.  You aren't going to find these polishes in your discount department stores but you can find them in department stores that have hair or nail salons.   These polishes, or rather the ingredients/chemicals that they use to make them are never tested on animals.

I like knowing that when I go to a nail salon someone is familiar with the names and the numbers.  It's nice to know that all I have to remember is a funny little name or even the number on the bottle.  Every time I get my nails done I either call my best friend or email her and tell her the latest name.  After I was introduced to Hoodoo Voodoo she fell in love with it so I gave her a bottle for Mother's Day.

I began wearing Hoodoo Voodoo at the recommendation of a nail tech who suggested it was a color that could be worn with both red and pink shades of clothes.  That was somethig I needed as I transitioned from fall to spring and now once again back into fall.  Right now I am wearing Berry Berry Broadway but I thought the Hoodoo Voodoo was the better name for my product.

The top 10 reasons I wear O.P.I. nail polish and not listed in any specific order is:

  • 20 Candles on My Cake
  • Blushingham Palace
  • Hoodoo Voodoo
  • Berry Berry Broadway
  • It's All Greek to Me
  • I'm Really Not A Waitress
  • Nice Color, Eh?
  • Catherine the Grape
  • An Affair In Red Square
  • Cajun Shrimp

I went to the O.P. I. homepage one time to try to find Hoodoo Voodoo because it had been discontinued in my nail salon.  Have no fear; I have since found it in other salons.  Anyway, while at the website I was glad to read up on some of it's contributions to our country both in beauty, education, and national relief.  The following exerpt is taken directly from their site.

In addition to helping those in need across the U.S. and around the world (most recently, a matching-funds donation of over $350,000 to the American Red Cross to help with recovery after Hurricane Katrina), the Foundation donates to the most local of causes, including a community health clinic in North Hollywood for those without health insurance. The Schaeffer Family Foundation also awards OPI employees' children with computers.

In my area the bottles are selling for $7 each or 2 for $12.  That is the going rate in both the nail salons and the major department store salons.  We price compared on the website and the prices are consistent.  They may be a little cheaper if you order them from the Internet but by the time you pay shipping/handling you have broke even.

It's a simple and somewhat inexpensive way to add some flare and fun to your life!
