     This is one of the friendliest birds, and has one of the sweetest demeanor.  Therefore I think they are a great choice for older children.  A few other good points they are a lot of fun, and can be entertained, and entertaining by the simplest things.  For instance when I have ours at my desk,  I'll dump the paper clips and she'll run around picking each of them up and putting them back into the basket.  It's one of the many little games we play.      —… read full review »

I have never owned a bird until just last month... For my daughter's birthday, I bought her a parakeet.  She just loves her bird.  My son was jealous and wanted a bird... So he got a cockatiel... Then we ended up getting another parakeet... These birds are so much fun, although they are all 3 still scared of us.  I have been working with the cockatiel mostly...
