Nyaker's - Ginger Snaps Gift Tin — 

Although I really love a big, soft, chewy cookie, I'm super crazy about gingersnaps.  I love the slightly tingly flavor and mouthfeel of a cookie just loaded with ginger and all those yummy spices.

At Christmas time I was buying some stuff at World Market and stumbled upon a little table with free samples of Nyaker's Ginger Snaps so I grabbed a few to munch on while I continued my shopping.  Then I went back for a few more, a few more, and then a few more after I paid for my purchases.  For some dumb reason I didn't buy a tin of them for myself!

Since then I've gone back to buy a few more tins to keep on hand as they are delicious and make a nice snack.  These ginger snaps are super thin (slightly thicker than a quarter) and crisp so the texture is very nice and they melt in the mouth.  But the really great thing about them is the flavor.  All the yummy gingerbread spices are in these crispy cookies, but the ginger is very strong and definitely the prominent spice.  This should be the case in a cookie with ginger in its name.  And these do not disappoint.  The ginger tingles my tongue a bit as if I had just eaten a small bit of fresh ginger root. 

These cookies come from the tiny Swedish village of Nyaker.  The colorful and attractive tin contains 85 cookies and sells for $6.99 at World Market (and probably other places as well but not sure where). 

The only complaint I have is that I wish I could purchase the cookies in a bag rather than the tin.  The tin makes a nice host/hostess gift or a gift for any other occasion and I've kept a few to store things in my pantry but I need another tin like I need another hole in my head.  I'd deduct a star from my rating for this fact alone but the cookies really are fantastic so I just don't have the heart to deduct for that reason.  There are small boxes of just the cookies on the World Market site, but I have yet to find them at my locak store.
