When my husband first brought this product to my attention, I thought he was disillusioned by some sales pitch. However, I reluctantly agreed to go along with this food switch for our two large dogs (one a large Siberian Husky and the other a really large White German Shepherd). I read the back label and was impressed that it didn't have the by-products and fillers that were a staple in the majority of other dog foods. When we first switched, though, I nearly changed my mind when both of the dogs had some pretty powerful gas for the first two days. Fortunately, we stuck it out, because I was won over as a Nutro fan. In just a short time, I was amazed at the "side effects" of this dog food: not only did their coats look better, but they actually started shedding less. And, ironically, they didn't eat as much food as they used to -- I guess because it was real food and not the garbage they had been eating before. One other nice benefit? They actually have better poop....no where near the daily output of before - and it was a healthier "consistency". (Gross, I know, but true -- and a great side effect). It is more costly than some of the other brands, but if you keep your eye out for sales and coupons, that can help a little bit. Besides, as "Man's Best Friend", don't they deserve it?
