Nutella Hazelnut Spread 13oz —

Nutella. Nut, what? Yes, you heard me correctly, Nutella. Have you ever used it? My current nanny (and former nanny) tell me it is the German version of peanut butter.

KIND OF. Their description is a bit of a stretch. Nutella is a Hazelnut spread that you use on bread, crackers, crepes, and any sweat bread. It is similar to peanut butter (in its use-- you eat it!), but it's a lot smoother and sweeter in taste. It is also NOT nearly as healthy.

According to my nannies, in Europe, specifically in Germany, people eat it daily and use it ALWAYS at breakfast. It is a staple in a German home. And, because I have a German nanny, it is a staple in my home. (in fact, we go through one container a week!)

Nutella is made from hazelnut and, if you like hazelnut, you will think it is delicious. It is a smooth creamy, spread and it is the perfect addition to crackers. (although my nanny puts it on everything!)

It is 100 calories per tablespoon and 20 grams of sugar. It is very high in protein, but the sugar kills it for you. It is also a bit on the pricey end-- around $3.50 for a small jar.

Nutella is sold at the Safeway stores and it was just recently added to our local Target. So, it must be getting more mainstream.

If you like hazelnut and want something sweet once in a while, it is good to have on hand. But, take my advice, dont consider it for a HAZELNUT and JELLY sandwich. That would be gross!  It isnt a peanut butter substitute. It is a high sugar, high protein, spread that can make just about anything taste good. Kind of like chocolate syrup.

I give it 3 stars because, for taste, Nutella is off the charts good. But, for health reasons, it is equally as off the charts-- bad! Averaging, well, 3 stars.

Multi-grain bread, natural peanut butter and all natural, organic signature for my family!

Heh - peanut butter being healthy? Peanut butter and grape jelly being healthy? I am cracking up so bad...
Are you eating all organic peanut butter without salt?
Your jelly does not have sugar?
Ah... just enjoy the Nutella - for some reasons Europeans are healthy and less fat.
Try to get good bread :)

Sadly, Nutella is loaded with partially hydrogenated oils. Alsthough it tastes good i would definitely be afraid to have my family consume 1 jar per week. Stick with some natural nut butters, if you are tired of peanut butter try cashew or almond butter.

Forget the nutella-- I wish I had a nanny for my kids when I had three kids every two years. :)

I love hazelnuts. My Grandma had a tree in her yard.

Matt, you beat me too it. My favorite memories of Paris are strolling around on a cool November afternoon eating a Nutella and banana crepe bought from a street side vendor.

That would be delicious! The perfect application-- perhaps with a few bananas too!

My personal favorite are nutella and crepes. Spread it inside a hot crepe, fold and eat. Cannot be beat.
