I wasn't sure what to expect when I received my complimentary box of Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred 9 Speech Recognition Software, but I was excited to give it a try. I've never used speech-to-text software before, so this review is coming from a complete newbie.

The premise of this software is to allow the user to speak the words that they would normally type into a document or an e-mail message. I was first introduced to Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred version 8 while in college and unexpectedly disabled. They allowed me to finish out my college career and research projects. I was unable to use either of my hands and can not imagine being as successful, especially with my independent & research projects, without Dragon Naturally Speaking.

After graduating as an Engineer, I notified my new employer of my physical requirements, and to my surprise they had never heard of Dragon Naturally Speaking (Preferred) which is Version 9 at this time, and where skeptical of the software's adaptability....
