Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred Full Version 9 Software Review

I was first introduced to Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred version 8 while in college and unexpectedly disabled. They allowed me to finish out my college career and research projects. I was unable to use either of my hands and can not imagine being as successful, especially with my independent & research projects, without Dragon Naturally Speaking.

After graduating as an Engineer, I notified my new employer of my physical requirements, and to my surprise they had never heard of Dragon Naturally Speaking (Preferred) which is Version 9 at this time, and where skeptical of the software's adaptability. Having used version 8 in the past, I confidently concluded that it would work with no hassles, and it did just that. I have yet to have any problems with the voice recognition software, and it inspired my company to make even more of my tools "hands-free".

Dragon Naturally Speaking's website lists NUMEROUS products that it provides assistance or adaptability to, and even present testing/research that's being done on others. With ease I can check my email, switch to opening and use a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, switch to and use the computer's calculator, write a review, anything I can think of and need to do. I did have to set aside some time to initially train my voice; but it's constantly, automatically, updating it's files based on my accent(s), my writing styles (emails, reports, etc.), and I'm even able to manually correct spellings (someone's name for example) and have a choice whenever I need that word or another with the same pronunciations in the future.

Whether you are able to use your hands or not, I highly suggest getting Dragon Naturally Speaking any style (Basic, Preferred, Professional) to make your work area even more ergonomically correct!
