May 2006 All of us were held up at the Seattle center until late. Given a box lunch at 1 pm then cookies at 6pm. We boarded at 9:40pm. Room was not turned down but the $20.00 room fee was added to our bill. Raced to the dining room (free style dining) which closed every nite at 10 pm. The steak house was fantastic ($20 pp) and the best food we had on the ship. The nite time snack was in the casino was made up of dessert items and spicy chicken and not much else. I found it very difficult to get anything to drink if it wasn't alcohol. One time I went back to my room, called room service, ordered coffee and then took it out to the sitting area to view the water. The food that was offered thru room service was very disapointing; hot dog, potato chips etc. I would of thought the buffett would be available 24 hrs a day. One morning we had to depart early for a side trip. It was impossible to get into the dining area. Glad we didn't order room service because that was running late. My friend had to excuse himself thru the crowd to grab a banana before we left. ( I am diabetic)
The train ride up into Canada was nice tho way over priced. Imagine this; view only out the right side of the train on the way up THEN when it gets to the end you flip your seat over and get to see the other side on the way down !
The nite time shows were pretty good and the piano player was great.
A lot of people got sick, possible norovirus, including my friend. There were people complaining in the lobby about their problems with the cruise. A cruise rep had a desk in the lobby trying to handle the complaints. This desk should of been somewhere else because the conversation got pretty heated.
Cruisers had warned us about gaining weight because of all the wonderful food on the ship but we never had to be concerned. We lost wt running around the ship trying to find something to eat !
I want to take another cruise but next time will try another cruise line.
