Norwegian Cruise Line - Star —
The Norwegian Majesty has provided Boston travellers with weekly seasonal runs to Bermuda for a number of years. While Bermuda is an island paradise, the Majesty is an older ship which is beginning to show its age. The staterooms are small, the casino is "smoky", and the entertainment is consistantly invariable. I have made the Boston to Bermuda run eight times on this ship and the entertainment venues never seem to change. Meal service in the dining rooms has always been good but buffet food comes up short. Staterooms are clean and the crew servicing the staterooms have always been friendly and do go out of their way to help. Bathrooms located in the staterooms are closet like. The main theatre, in which much time is spent, has many seats which have obstructed views mostly consisting of poles/pillars which get into the way. Drinks are on the pricey side and the elaborate drinks are, for the most part, weakly made. The ship has two swimming pools, one being for adults. Unfortunately, the adult pool is not monitored and is often filled with small fry. So much for peace and quiet in the gently rolling swimming pool. Despite these shortcomings, the Boston to Bermuda run is a great cruise and a great time. The ship berths in the town of St. George from which there is great access to local beaches. The ship remains in St. George for three days and there are few more beautiful places than Bermuda. This year the Majesty is making the Bermuda run from Baltimore, MD and has been replaced by the Norwegian Dream. I will be aboard the Dream in August and am much looking forward to this cruise.
