I took the Norwegien Star to Alaska from Seattle. I was happy that NCL offered a Saturday to Saturday cruise as I live in New York and the travel time to get across the country is 6-8 hours, plus then the 3 hour time difference.
The boat was beautiful, all of the same places as on the Dawn - so on a boat that big it's nice to already know the names of places and what they are about from having been on another NLC boat.
One difference that was both a pro and a con was that you had to pay for the use of the spa. OK, the obvious con - 20 bucks per day of use or 140 for the entire cruise if you join as a couple. I went with my best friend and they let us use this deal even though we weren't a "couple". The pro to this was it was a much more exclusive "club." No kids of course, but it seemed to be only serious spa goers that were willing to pay the fee so it was a truly relaxing spa experience.
I enjoyed the food at the restaurants. We only went to "non-pay" restaurants and I don't think I missed out on anything that the pay restaurants offered. I have lobster 2 nights, prime rib, rack of lamb, just to name a few things . . I love the free-style dining and that's why I'll always cruise with NCL.
