Fourteen family members (aunts, uncles, cousins) my husband and myself went to the Bahamas, Tortola and St. Thomas aboard the Norwegian "Spirit" in May 2007.  We were with a AARP Group out of NY. DO NOT GO ON THIS SHIP. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS ON THIS SHIP AND SLIPPED BY THE POOL. THEIR STAFF REFUSED TO OPEN THE MEDICAL CENTER FOR HER. WHEN THEY WERE FINALLY FORCED TO THEY TOLD HER SHE SPRAINED HER ARM (WHEN SHE CLEARLY TOLD THEM IT WAS HER NECK AND NOT HER ARM THAT HURT) AND WOULD NOT TREAT HER ANY FURTHER, THEY LEFT HER FOR OVER 24 HOURS WITH A FRACTURED SPINAL CORD WHEN SHE WAS FINALLY OPERATED ON HER NECK WAS IN HER BACK AND SHE IS NOW ON LIFE SUPPORT AND MAY NOT MAKE IT. — WHEN THE BOAT DOCKED THEY WOULDNT EVEN LET HER OFF THE BOAT THEY TOLD US SHE WAS NOT A PRIORITY. ..the Norwegian Spirit is not as big or nice as the Norwegian Dawn.  Everything else is excellent.  norwegian has a quieter, better behaved clientele than Canival does.  Only thing Carnival has better is 24 hour a day free soft ice… read full review »

Okay Now i am writing this to explain my feelings about this half-ass ship THE NORWEGIAN SPIRIT. — — BACKROUND: I am a current resident of Long Island, New York and as you may know Islanders expect to have a GREAT vacation when we put down alot of money for one. First things first - the good: traveling with my 87 yr old mother - embarking and disembarking was courteous, fast, great. Entertainment - all tried very hard to make our cruise memorable.  Now the bad:  water by the pool on the decks made for very slippery conditions - they should pay for someone to specifically squeegie the deck - would make more sense. Norwegian Spirit seasonally departs from Manhattan. This is why we chose Norwegian instead of our normal pick, Princess.  The convenience of leaving from Manhattan rather than fly to Florida from our home in Michigan wasn't worth the effort.  The ship does not compare in quality, service or accommodations with Princess cruises.  The pool is salt water and the food, even in the "specialty" restaurants is so-so at best.  Getting a wheel chair and returning it prior to de-boarding is a nightmare.  We were travelling with elderly parents and the ship could have been… read full review »

My 6-night cruise on the Norwegian Spirit to the Bahamas was great! The ship was very nice, and they always had lots to do. There was generally different types of live music in different locations all the time. It was a good ship to relax and enjoy. Everything seemed very nice. And, I can't stress enough how great free-style dining is. You go and have these amazing meals whenever you with whoever you want. I felt like the Norwegian Cruise Line Spirit was an extremly great trip to the Bahamas.  It was extremely affordable and provided plenty of amenities.  The food was not as good as my experience on Carnival.  They did not offer juices such as carnival cruise line.  It was very relaxing because there was no set time to eat.  There were plenty excursions to choose from such as snorkeling and clear glass bottom… read full review »
