Norwegian Cruise Line - Pride of America Review Summary

Thinking of taking a cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America? Viewpoints members, for the most part, liked the Pride of America. The Pride of America’s itinerary pleased reviewers who love to travel. The “Friendly and efficient service” and cleanliness also impressed reviewers. The inability to make reservations for the “crowded” free-style dining was a negative. Viewpoints reviewers also didn’t like some of the teenage staff who on one trip “showed signs of striking”. Kids these days….For more Norwegian Cruise line reviews click here

Our family of (5) which included 2 adult teens and our 24 yr old daughter had a wonderful Hawaiian cruise aboard NCL's Pride of America. We had read numerous reviews, prior to our Sept 22, 2007 venture, many of which were negative. Being a highly critical person I was not expecting the cruise quality...

Hawaii was beautiful.  NCL Pride of America July21 2007 sailing was terrible - food was mediocre, poor quality, lobster was rubbery and tasteless.

Freestyle dining was crowded - can't make reservations - first come first served and only one of 2 of these restaurants was open at any time.

Speciality...

The cruiseline was helpful from the beginning. We booked online with no problems. We stayed in the penthouse and it was spacious with a private balcony. We didn;t see much of the cabin staff, but our rooms were always clean and neat when we returned. But, if we needed anything the staff was very helpful and accomodating. We highly recommend anyone try this for just one vacation. It is the most value for your money.

I got married a year ago but didn't really have a wedding.  My husband and I decided to invite everyone on a cruise in Hawaii.  So we found NCL who are the only ones who go around the islands.  We booked on the Pride of Aloha but without being told they took that boat from the water and shifted my friends and family to Pride of America.  WHAT A MESS THAT WAS!!!  They made it seem like they were doing us a favor for even giving us another ship.  The people on the phones were not that helpful and made planning my wedding difficult.  So after many many problems we were finally ready to just...

We just made it back from Pride of America and i sure did beg the crew to take me around the block just one more time.  For my first cruise i could not have asked for anything better.  Our room was on level 9, Aft.  It was perfect.  No window, just a plain room, but we were only there at night.  We ate aft, at the table out back which was picture perfect.  The buffet was great each day and yes there was a line, but it moved fast and no, they did not run out of food.  They also had a buffet out side that you could eat also.  It was great.  Hardly ever a line.  We did try one resturant,...

We cruised on the Pride of America's Sept.16th 2007 sailing. Every thing was just great. We didn't go just for the cruise, but to see Hawaii too. This destination cruising changes some of the ways that things are done so guests should remember this when they choose to complain. When things go a little wacky, as they sometimes will, a laugh or two with the crew will sweetem the situation. Remember, they don't know if you are the extrememly  picky guest who is looking for trouble. Some people are impossible to please. We actually heard a guest complaining that he didn't get  to see the lava...

My husband and I went on the Pride of America in August 07 for our10th aniversary!  Despite some poor reviews we had a fantastic time.  This was our 2nd time to Hawaii!   This was a great way to view the islands without lugging your suitcase around!  We rented cars at each island and did our own thing! We found the ship to be clean and beautiful.  The staff were friendly and helpful.  I would recommend this to anybody!

We had a fantastic time aboard this ship. There were great activites lined up, many helpful crew members all around and the food was fantastic. Our itinerary had 3 stops, each with enough time to see the sights. There almost always seemed to be something going on. We would absolutely go again!

My husband and I and his 86 year old mother all went on our first cruise in March of this year. We had a great time! Our cabin was a little small for 3 people but not bad for the length of time we spent in it. It was always clean and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet was pretty good and there was always an ample supply! We ate at afew of the specialty restaurants, and felt that the service and presentation were very good, but the food was not worth paying extra for. Having nothing to compare this cruise to, we felt it was a great experience and...

I have been on several cuises and this was by far the worst.

the staff was mostly new and grumbled and complained a LOT

there was a lot of healthy eatting choices but not much in the way for the kids to eat.  My kids ended up eatting mostly ice cream

After we were promised prior to the trip that there would be many kid activities. The kid area was only opened a few hours a day, several of the kid leaders were not happy to be there. There was also nothing on the TV for the kids to watch and they only played two movies in the theater kid appopriate.

They also promised no formal dining but when...

We ,ny wife along with my brother and his wife enjoyed the 7 night Island cruise fron Honolulu to Maui, Hawai ,and Kauai, which is now my favorite Island. If you have been to this island you have to believe in GOD,because on the hands of GOD could create something this beautiful. The service on board ship was great and we enjoyed the entertainment very much. The only problem I have with freestyle dinning is they should offer any menu that the speciality restaurants have to the budget conscious traveler who could not afford to pay and extra 25.00 for a certain steak or for shrimp and scallops.Cruising... review »

We took NCL Pride of America to Hawaii in December and LOVED it!  The freestyle dining is much more relaxed than we had experienced on Royal Carribbean in the past.  The islands were amazing and it gave us a good overview of places we wanted to return to in the future.  The cruise ship was clean, the staff was pleasant and the service was good.  We spend most of our time on the islands when at dock.  We had no complaints!  We are ready to do it again!!

For someone not used to cruising, it was a great and casual trip.  However, I am ready for a larger, more elegant ship--I like more opportunities to meet others onboard, and think that perhaps more activities will promote that possibility. The decor, though fine, was far from elegant--more homey--The staff was not always particularly friendly--more bored alot of the time--the room key worked about a third of the time, and a larger ship would be more steady.

Memorable. Best vacation ever. WILL DO AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Courtious, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

The food was GREAT! The choice is such that you can eat healthy. And the quality was uncompromising.

What more can I say, it is "Paradise on earth".

I would recommend to all my friends.
