We cruised on the Pride of America's Sept.16th 2007 sailing. Every thing was just great. We didn't go just for the cruise, but to see Hawaii too. This destination cruising changes some of the ways that things are done so guests should remember this when they choose to complain. When things go a little wacky, as they sometimes will, a laugh or two with the crew will sweetem the situation. Remember, they don't know if you are the extrememly picky guest who is looking for trouble. Some people are impossible to please. We actually heard a guest complaining that he didn't get to see the lava flowing into the ocean ! Darn Norwegian, Can't you control that volcano?
Our cabin crew was super and got tipped extra for their work. They do a lot of work for very low pay, but what a difference they make in your trip. We didn't see any teenage staff. The food was good, not great, but when you cook for over 2000 people it won't be fantastic at every meal. Sometime while in port, they don't really know how many they will be feeding and it may take time to cook more if a crowd shows up.
We celebrated our 40th anniversary on the Pride of America. Hopefully she will still be showing off Hawaii when we return for our 50th.
