Norwegian Cruise Line - Dawn Review Summary

The Norwegian Cruise Line Dawn rates highly with Viewpoints reviewers. People who love to travel thought that a major plus was that the Dawn was great for all ages. People who appreciate good service thought that the ship was fun and raved “there was never an opportunity for us to be bored”. Sounds good to me! Reviewers complained that little expenses could add up to a big bill. A few reviewers rated the food a just “okay”. Read on to see more Norwegian Cruise Line reviews!

We traveled with our daughter, then 9 months old, and my in-laws on the 11-day fall Canada and New England cruise. We were looking for a way to travel with my older in-laws and a baby that would be easy on everyone, but still allow for lots of things for everyone to do. We were most attracted to… read full review »

My mother and I were on Norwegian Dawn starting at the end of Nov 2006.  She was having some angina pains which her doctor was aware of and OK'd her to go on this cruise.  It was an 11 night cruise and my mother's first.  About 4 days into the cruise, my cousin and I were on our first excursion and my mother decided to see if Medical had any nitroglycerine pills they could give her as she ran out.  They found out we didn't have cruise insurance and they couldn't get my mother off the cruise fast enough.  They put her off in Cozumel in her pajamas with no purse and no… read full review »

Easily the worst cruise I have ever been on!  The ship is gorgeous and the compliments end there.  The staff gets by with providing the absolute basic minimum service. Activities are almost non-existent.  5 premium pay restaurants but only 2 sit down choices for those who didn't want to pay extra to eat.  Overpriced in every way.  The crew almost seemed to feel sorry for us on the trip.  They told us that they are only doing what Norwegian Cruise line tells them to do.  — List of gripes: — $25 per 8x10 photo(and they took plenty!) —… read full review »

Customer Service is horrendous... We booked a cruise on the Dawn with 7 families, and to ensure we're all together, we all got together and made our reservations by passing to the phone to the next family after one made they're reservations. We were all quoted prices for inside cabins or outside cabins based on # of people in a room. After we each gave credit cards for a deposit, we asked for a review of the balances for each room and they had all changed. We asked to speak to a supv, Alberto Monjo to resolve this. He was very sarcastic, rude and unprofessional and would not honor the prices… read full review »

We cruised on the Norwegian Dawn with 8 friends and family on June 23, 2007. — I had read negative reviews of this ship, service and quality of food.  I must say I disagree totally.  The ship was spotless, rooms were immaculate and very well laid out.  Service was wonderful, with everyone in the housekeeping, restaurants and cruise staff always willing to lend a helping hand. —  The food was good, not gourmet, but certainly palatable.  You must make reservations the day before for restaurants during peak dining times.  We ate at 8… read full review »

DO NOT GO ON THIS SHIP. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS ON THIS SHIP AND SLIPPED BY THE POOL. THEIR STAFF REFUSED TO OPEN THE MEDICAL CENTER FOR HER. WHEN THEY WERE FINALLY FORCED TO THEY TOLD HER SHE SPRAINED HER ARM (WHEN SHE CLEARLY TOLD THEM IT WAS HER NECK AND NOT HER ARM THAT HURT) AND WOULD NOT TREAT HER ANY FURTHER, THEY LEFT HER FOR OVER 24 HOURS WITH A FRACTURED SPINAL CORD WHEN SHE WAS FINALLY OPERATED ON HER NECK WAS IN HER BACK AND SHE IS NOW ON LIFE SUPPORT AND MAY NOT MAKE IT. — — WHEN THE BOAT DOCKED THEY WOULDNT EVEN LET HER OFF THE BOAT THEY TOLD US SHE WAS NOT A… read full review »

I have cruised many time on the Norwegian Dawn, I love the boat & I love the crew. Everyone is wonderful, the wait staff, the house keeping, and all the other employees. I love the freestyle cruising, I like the fact that you can eat at anytime, you are assigned a time to eat or a table. — I also like the fact that you don't have to dress up if you don't want. — The shows are always wonderful, the entertainment is… read full review »

This cruise was fun, but since I had cruised with Disney as my first Cruise, I was disappointed.Disney bends over backwards to make sure you have fun, and goes the extra mile to see to it that you have EVERYTHING you could ever want or need. The crew of the Norwegian Dawn was not like that. The food was okay, but I've hadbetter "eats" at a chain restaurant. I expected more from them. Freestyle dining is nice if you expect to be busy at certain times, but it means you end up eating in the cafeteria if you don't get a chance to book your dinner reservations, or, like we did, miss our… read full review »

The service on the Dawn was excellent and there were many fun activities to participate in.  The ship was clean and the entertainment fantastic.  The only thing I didn't enjoy was the food.  If you have children freestyle food service is definitely the way to go because you can eat where you want when you want but I felt the food was lower quality than other lines I have been on where there was a set dinner time.  —… read full review »

me and my hubby went on the Norw. Dawn in 2006 and the whole experience was just awful.  I couldn't believe the experience compared to the other one we have been on.  Where to start.  First, everything was OK until we got on the boat.  We got in our stateroom, there was no soap, no shampoo, no robes, and when we asked for some it took them three days to get us 2 freakin robes.  First impressions were already bad.  Then it just got worse.  The entertainment was OK if you could get into the areas they were having them in.  There are oveer 2,000 passengers… read full review »

I would have to say that I truly enjoyed myself on the Norwegian Dawn.  Me and my husband are budget conscious travelers and we booked our vacation on our first cruise online by using www. destinationcompare. com we were able to search the top names in travel and save a lot of money. —  What I would change about the cruise is the PA system that makes announcements early in the morning, that annoyed me because I like to sllep on vacation late and arise at 12:00 noon, on the Dawn the announcers did not take this into consideration.  Also, I thought that the cruise was… read full review »

The crusie to Alaska was so enjoyable along the inter passage.  I travel most just in the states.  I've seen most of the western states.  Everyone should see the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Alaska. We have a great country and you will then see why so many people come from all the world to see these great treasures we have here.  On the cruise we got so cold went viewing the glacier we went down to dinner right by the windows and ate dinner and didn't miss any view.  What a wonderful time that… read full review »
