Most HelpfulWe traveled with our daughter, then 9 months old, and my in-laws on the 11-day fall Canada and New England cruise. We were looking for a way to travel with my older in-laws and a baby that would be easy on everyone, but still allow for lots of things for everyone to do. We were most attracted to Norwegian...

Most HelpfulJust returned for 7 day ny to bermuda trip. 2nd time cruising with ncl last year was on the Spirit had at GREAT experience!! The Dawn however was like ruising with a whole other cruise line one that you might want your worst enemy on for that would truely be sweet revenge!! Staff and Crew RUDE< Distant...
review »My mother and I were on Norwegian Dawn starting at the end of Nov 2006. She was having some angina pains which her doctor was aware of and OK'd her to go on this cruise. It was an 11 night cruise and my mother's first. About 4 days into the cruise, my cousin and I were on our first excursion and my mother decided to see if Medical had any nitroglycerine pills they could give her as she ran out. They found out we didn't have cruise insurance and they couldn't get my mother off the cruise fast enough. They put her off in Cozumel in her pajamas with no purse and no money with a promise to...
review »Customer Service is horrendous... We booked a cruise on the Dawn with 7 families, and to ensure we're all together, we all got together and made our reservations by passing to the phone to the next family after one made they're reservations. We were all quoted prices for inside cabins or outside cabins based on # of people in a room. After we each gave credit cards for a deposit, we asked for a review of the balances for each room and they had all changed. We asked to speak to a supv, Alberto Monjo to resolve this. He was very sarcastic, rude and unprofessional and would not honor the prices quoted....
review »Easily the worst cruise I have ever been on! The ship is gorgeous and the compliments end there. The staff gets by with providing the absolute basic minimum service. Activities are almost non-existent. 5 premium pay restaurants but only 2 sit down choices for those who didn't want to pay extra to eat. Overpriced in every way. The crew almost seemed to feel sorry for us on the trip. They told us that they are only doing what Norwegian Cruise line tells them to do.
List of gripes:
$25 per 8x10 photo(and they took plenty!)
$10 for a drink and they had the nerve to add an auto-gratuity...
review »We cruised on the Norwegian Dawn with 8 friends and family on June 23, 2007.
I had read negative reviews of this ship, service and quality of food. I must say I disagree totally. The ship was spotless, rooms were immaculate and very well laid out. Service was wonderful, with everyone in the housekeeping, restaurants and cruise staff always willing to lend a helping hand.
The food was good, not gourmet, but certainly palatable. You must make reservations the day before for restaurants during peak dining times. We ate at 8 o'clock every evening and had no problem. The Asian restaurant...
review »NCL versus Royal Caribbean on style formats
My wife and I recently took a seven day cruise on NCL's Dawn cruise ship from New York City to Bermuda and back. We had a great time but we're not sure we would try NCL's "Freestyle" cruising anymore.
With six cruises under our belts on Royal Caribbean, we decided to try NCL because they had a outside cabin for us with 3 weeks prior booking. A last minute decision on our part to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Bermuda is where we honeymooned 45 years ago and hadn't been back since. Bermuda was very nice but we remembered very little about...
review »DO NOT GO ON THIS SHIP. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS ON THIS SHIP AND SLIPPED BY THE POOL. THEIR STAFF REFUSED TO OPEN THE MEDICAL CENTER FOR HER. WHEN THEY WERE FINALLY FORCED TO THEY TOLD HER SHE SPRAINED HER ARM (WHEN SHE CLEARLY TOLD THEM IT WAS HER NECK AND NOT HER ARM THAT HURT) AND WOULD NOT TREAT HER ANY FURTHER, THEY LEFT HER FOR OVER 24 HOURS WITH A FRACTURED SPINAL CORD WHEN SHE WAS FINALLY OPERATED ON HER NECK WAS IN HER BACK AND SHE IS NOW ON LIFE SUPPORT AND MAY NOT MAKE IT.
WHEN THE BOAT DOCKED THEY WOULDNT EVEN LET HER OFF THE BOAT THEY TOLD US SHE WAS NOT A PRIORITY. DO NOT TAKE THIS...
review »My wife and I hvae been cruising since we got married. We are in our mid-30's so this is no senior cruise as we intend to spend some money and see something exciting while also relax and get away. This is my ninth cruise and have experienced Celebrity & Royal Carribean also. We had been on NCL Jewel last year and it was fantastic so we gave NCL another go in August of 2008. We boarded the NCL Dawn at the end of August for a 7-night cruise up eastern shore to Halifax and back, stopping in Boston, Bar Harbor and R.I.
The staff seemed to lack proper training or concerned management.as it...
review »The service on the Dawn was excellent and there were many fun activities to participate in. The ship was clean and the entertainment fantastic. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the food. If you have children freestyle food service is definitely the way to go because you can eat where you want when you want but I felt the food was lower quality than other lines I have been on where there was a set dinner time.
