Not my first choice of cruise lines

This cruise was fun, but since I had cruised with Disney as my first Cruise, I was disappointed.Disney bends over backwards to make sure you have fun, and goes the extra mile to see to it that you have EVERYTHING you could ever want or need. The crew of the Norwegian Dawn was not like that. The food was okay, but I've hadbetter "eats" at a chain restaurant. I expected more from them. Freestyle dining is nice if you expect to be busy at certain times, but it means you end up eating in the cafeteria if you don't get a chance to book your dinner reservations, or, like we did, miss our reservation time by a few minutes becuase we were off enjoying ourselves.  We ate at the 24 hour restaurant that night -- not by choice. I had one small request while at this little cafeteria type restaurant, and that was cocktail sauce for my fish and chips (they were pretty good!) I was told they don't have any. The first time I asked (we had eaten here for lunch one day) a wait staff manager went and got me some from the steakhouse on deck 13. On this night I was told, no, she couldn't go get me some. So I went. All the way up to deck 13 and asked at the steak house. They were more than happy to give it to me. So it wasn't a total loss!! And, to top off "Freestyle Dining", most restaurants require an additional fee to eat there. Everything on the schedule revolves around shopping, and if you aren't on the cruise to shop, and you aren't an athlete, it doesn't leave much to do except trivia. We were very disappointed in this, and were dismayed at how everything you do guides you BACK to the ship's stores, where the crew down there does their best to talk you into buying jewelry. It was like walking past a used car lot!! I think I prefer the scheduled dining way of cruising so I KNOW I'm being fed that day, and the laid back but energetic style (is that an oxymoron?) of Disney Cruising!
