These do not really work

I bought these cookie cutters on sale for $20 thinking that they would be something different I could bring to holiday parties. I was very disappointed.

I cut the various shapes out perfectly, but after coming out of the oven and cooling, they did not even come close to fitting together. I assumed that I had rolled the dough too thick, so I made another batch and tried again. The second batch fit together after I trimmed the slits a bit, but were not stable at all...yep, you guessed it...because they were too thin.
