Noodle Bug videos may be available at your local library.

Noodle Bug videos use the illustrations and ideas from the popular BABYBUG and LADYBUG magazines for kids. Playful animations, amusing puppets and real preschoolers create educational fun for preschoolers with familiar melodies, folk songs, classical music and nature sounds in the background.

Noodle Bug children’s DVDs are comparable to the Baby Einstein series but target the older end of the Baby Einstein audience. Noodle Bug utilizes the brain stimulating music concepts found in Baby Einstein but offers dialogue as well. I like that they include “brain care” messages about the importance of drinking water, good nutrition, getting rest and exercise.

Noodle Bug videos and DVDs were created with guidance from Pam Schiller, Ph.D. Schiller is an early childhood consultant, author of six children’s books and over thirty teacher resource books including Start Smart! Building Brain Power in the Early Years.

There are four videos and DVDs in the Noodle Bug series:

Animal Friends

On the Move

Let’s Pretend

Move and Groove

Each Noodle Bug Video and DVD includes these 7 “brain builders” for preschoolers:

Music
Movement
Humor
Story Time
Brain Care
Problem Solving
Second Languages

Noodle Bug videos won a 2003 Parent’s Choice Gold Award.

My Viewpoint:

I think Noodle Bug is an excellent choice for young children and parents to watch and interact together. Little bugs really do enjoy these and as an educator I think they are appropriate and educational for little noodles.

My niece has a preschooler. I will tell her about this. She is always on the look out for new things to keep him buys and to interact with him when the older kids are in school.
