The Nome Nugget is the perfect location to book a room if you're going to Nome for the finish of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. Some of the rooms look right out over the Finish Line, and the front door is right by the Burled Arch. Inside, Fat Freddie's is a good place to find a meal (one of the few), but prices are a bit high -- but everything in Nome is a bit high. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel was that it was advertised as a "non-smoking" hotel. That part is technically true, there's no smoking in the hotel rooms, hallways, etc. But the bar downstairs is loaded with smokers and when you walk into the lobby, you're hit with a big wall of smoke before you can get to your "smoke free" room.
