I have had this phone for over 2 years and saved a lot of money over having a traditional cell phone carrier. It's not the latest, but it works well. Compared to my firends, I most often have carrier service, I think because Tracfone can use multiple carriers. This means if anyone's cell phoen works, mine will too.

There is no monthly fee, but of course there are no free minutes. Minutes are 10 cents or 5 cents if you buy a doubling card good for the life of the phone.

Some tips: set the keylock function so that the keyboard is locked after a few minutes of inactivity. Otherwise, you may find that you are dialing the cell phone with your car keys while it is still in your pcket! You can associate ring tones with different callers, so you always know who's calling and you don't end up chatting with the wife in the middle of a business meeting (Guiliani should get this! He took a call from his wife during a press conference).
