A few years ago, I had red itchy patches on my face that were diagnosed as sebbhoraic dermatitis, a skin condition caused by a fungus. The doctor prescribed a cream containing 2-percent ketoconozole, and it was very effective at making the red patches disappear. They never came back but I wanted to make sure that they never came back, so I bought an over-the-counter bottle of Nizoral A-D shampoo (with 1-percent ketoconozole) about a year ago.
I use it twice a week, usually on Wednesday and Sunday mornings, and use a regular shampoo the rest of the week. When it's a Nizoral A-D day, I use a small...

Ever since I started suffering from dandruff with the onset of puberty -- for more than 30 years -- I've tried most of the better-known over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoos; from Head & Shoulders, Selsun Blue, Tegrin, and Herbal Essences, I've had mixed results, with some symptoms (such as excessive flaking and itching) minimized but never really eliminated. Worse, when I'm stressed (as I have been lately for mostly personal reasons), my dandruff really flares up; the itch becomes maddening and I find myself scratching my head almost obsessively. I have always suffered from dry scalp and flaking i.e dandruff. I would use Head and Shoulders but it would make my hair dry and rough. I would have to use a deep conditioner to allow my hair to become soft again. My beautician advised Nizoral A-D. It literally work instantly. I normally shampoo by hair 2-3 times a week due to the intense itching and flaking. After using the shampoo, I went a whole week without washing my hair. I didnt even itch one day. I continue using Nizoral A-D on am average twice a week. After about a month of continue use, I didn't have to use it has often. I would switch...
review »I have been using Nizoral for about five years. This is an excellent shampoo for dry, itchy, and flaky scalp. It has a good lather, and the smell is not too bad. I have oily hair, but a dry scalp. So the only problem that I tend to have is that the shampoo itself makes your hair dry. Therefore, you may have to use some type of treatment at times to control the dry effect. The shampoo comes in two sizes and the smallest size is approximately ten dollars. The next size is about eighteen dollars. I still tend to flake at times, but I think since I have been using the shampoo so long...
