I have seasonal psoriasis/exzema and this year was the worst in recent memory. I felt like a crackhead, constantly scratching my head, to the point where I drew blood in a couple places. (I know- GROSS!!!) I had very bad itchy, dry, flaky patches in my scalp, and tried a number of other brand name shampoos that claim to address the problem, including neutragena, whose products I'm normally a big fan of. Not to say their shampoo doesn't work, but it didn't work for me this time. In desperation, my last ditch effort before the inconvenience of health insurance and dermatologist referrals, was to try Nizoral shampoo. It really helped, after just one use. After 3-4 uses, my problem is but a memory. Definitely recommend this product (for this specific problem, as-needed, not as a daily regular shampoo as that's not what its intended for- probably wouldn't kill you, but for one thing, its comparatively expensive so that would be impractical). Although, I'm not marking it as expensive generally, because I think its only expensive COMPARED TO OTHER DAILY SHAMPOOS, which are not designed to meet the same needs as Nizoral. Even of the other shampoos designed to treat flakey/itchy scalp (which are all priced higher than most daily shampoos), I do not think there is any other shampoo that has comparable ingredients to Nizoral, which contains a lower dose of a perscription medication. So, since it is in a class of its own, and not in a ridiculous price range ($50 or more) I think it would be unfair to mark it as expensive. I believe it retails in the range of $12-25/bottle, depending on size.
