Nivea Hydrating Shower Gel Lemon Grass smells a little weird

4

Nivea Hydrating Shower Gel Lemon Grass smells a little weird. I am a very scent conscious person. How things smell is very important to me. I have my favorite scents (lavender, citrus of all types, cinnamon). So I thought that lemon grass scent would be a good choice for me. Overall, it is not a good or bad product. I sometimes buy a product and it is so great, I buy it again and again. And sometimes I buy a product that is so bad that I use it once and throw the rest away. This product is somewhere in the middle. I used the whole bottle, but I will never buy it again. It wasn't that bad, but it was definitely not one of my favorites! I will score it a 7. . Effectiveness The product works ok as a shower gel. My skin is left soft and smooth. There is a fairly rich, thick lather when I use this with my loofah or bath sponge. It rinses off easily without leaving a film or leaving my skin feel dry or sticky. Scent The scent just isn't right. I really like citrus smells. I especially like lemon and lemongrass scents. But this lemongrass scent just is a little weird. I can't really explain or describe it. It just doesn't smell as good as my other lemon and lemongrass scented product.

Weird smell

When I went to the store the other day, I decided to try out the Nivea Hydrating Shower Gel, in the scent of Lemon Grass. I never tried this scent before and I was curious to try it out. However, after I tried it at home, I found that the scent was okay, but it smelled kind of weird and off-putting. Wasted my money!

Okay overall.

This shower gel really disappointed me. It didn't stand up to my expectations of Nivea products. First of all, it smells horrible. I have had other Lemon Grass scents that smelt wonderful. This one was bad though. I don't know what happened but it was just off. After I used it, I had to get another shower. That is how bad I smelled. Another thing is that the shower gel isn't hydrating. My skin wasn't smoother after I used it. This product didn't moisturize my skin at all. It was very misleading and disappointing. The only good thing I have to say about this product is that it did get me clean. I smelled awful, but I was clean. Effectiveness The smell is bad so I wouldn't recommend it for fragrance purposes. The product also wasn't moisturizing. I think it actually dried my skin out. This product did get me clean though. Scent This shower gel smelt horrible. It was a waste of my money and time to buy it. After I used it I had to get another shower to get the "Lemon Grass" smell off of me. It smells AWFUL, don't buy it.

Nivea is a pretty safe brand to buy, and while you may not love it, you more than likely will think it's just okay than, which is better than hating it since you already paid for it! With that being said, I felt like this product was just okay. It didn't wow me or stand out in any way. One thing that I wish they would improve about this product is the scent by making it a little more complex. I use all natural cleaners around my house and they all have lemongrass in them because of it's properties so I felt weird smelling like my household cleaners. Other than that this shower gel was great, it was soft on my skin, while still being strong enough to get all the dirt and stench off of me. I would say this is a different type of scent that strays away from the path when it comes to they "typical" scent used by shower gels, which are usually floral or fruity. If you are tired of smelling like fruity or floral scents I would definitely recommend that you give this shower gel a try.

Smell isn't bad but a little bit off

I originally bought this because I love Nivea products and I love citrus smells, but this product is kind of lacking. While I don't agree with the other reviews saying that it smells terrible, I will say it definitely doesn't smell like lemon grass. With that being said, it's not bad smelling, it's just not at all what I was expecting. Compared to other Nivea products this one could use a little work. It doesn't lather as much as I think it should and I feel like I need to use a lot of it to wash my whole body. The moisturizing beads are nice. They are no hard and they pop when pressed. I assume there is some type of moisturizing oil or what have you in them. I usually lotion right after my showers so I can't say for sure they give extra moisture, but my skin feels nice either way right out of the shower. Effectiveness Could use some improvements but not terrible overall. There are definitely better options out there but this one is a bit budget friendly. Scent Doesn't exactly smell like lemon grass but it's also not terrible. I wasn't told I smelt bad after using it or anything and the scent isn't overwhelming and long lasting.

This Nivea shower gel's fragrance will disappoint you.

I definitely will not buy this shower gel again. I took a risk buying a shower gel with an odd sounding fragrance such as "Touch of Lemon Grass" and I paid for it because it is not the most appealing fragrance. Every now in then I may get a faint whiff of something somewhat good smelling for a split second when using the shower gel, however most of the time this shower gel would leave me tripping on how weird and almost bad the scent of the Nivea Hydrating Shower Gel in "Touch of Lemon Grass" was. Perhaps it may do a satisfactory job of hydrating your skin, because I have not had a problem with dry skin as of late, however, this may not be the case because I use lotion fairly regularly. Another thing that I did not like about this shower gel is that I felt the need to use a lot of it. I would pour a generous amount of the product onto my sea sponge/loofah thingie and the lather would only last long enough to barely apply the shower gel to half of my body (I am an average sized woman, mind you). I would not recommend this shower gel to anyone to be quite honest.
