Nissan Sentra - 2007 —

To the Point

While in Los Angeles we rented a 2007 Nissan Sentra for the week. I have good things to say about it.

A Closer View

The fact it is Nissans have consistently been given high grades. The Sentra 4- door 2007 5 passenger car with a 2.0 liter engine is a good indication of the quality of Nissan cars. The Sentra we rented had about 10,000 miles on it and was an automatic. A standard transmission is what comes with the car. It is considered a mid-sized compact sedan.

Some of the standard features on this 2007 Nissan Sentra include a

15-inch steel wheels; all season tires; cloth front bucket seats, adjustable headrests in the front; split folding second row seats; cup holders; am/fm/cd; and the center armrest on the bent in the back is a pass through to the trunk.

The interior:

There are the usual places in which to put maps and "junk." In addition the placement of the cup holders is much better than that of an old Sentra my daughter had. Rather than coming out from beneath the radio they are now places next to the emergency brake

The front seats decline easily and fully. I was basically in a lying position and very comfortable.

The trunk is larger than the 1996 as well. It is now 13.1 cubic feet rather than 10.1 cubic feet.

There is enough room in the back for short drives. I wouldn't want to be an adult in the back for a cross country journey!

The car in general:

The Nissan Sentra 2.0 automatic gets 29 mile per gallon in the city and 30 miles to a gallon of gas on the highway.

As a passenger I found the ride smooth; however I have been driving my mom's Toyota Solaris which is a top of the line Toyota versus the Sentra which is a bottom of the line Nissan. Thus the ride though smooth and decent for this price can't compare to the Solaris

I found both as a driver and passenger that the car handled very well. It took corners nicely, stopped nicely and handled the highways of Los Angeles which is quite a feat. I felt that I had good control over the car and was able to stop really well. It is noisy at high speeds if I listened to the outside but the inside was generally quiet. It doesn't have a "tinny" feel like some American cars in which I have been. (The Pontiac Sunfire to name one.)

The warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles; the drivetrain is five years/36,000 miles; roadside assistance is 5 years/60,000 miles and rust is 5 years/unlimited miles.

Safety:

The NHTSA (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/Ratings) gives the Nissan Sentry 5 stars for crash results to the passenger; driver; side impact to the front and 4 stars for side impact to the rear and rollover.

Jo's Viewpoint

I like it!
For the money you can't beat a Nissan Sentra in my view.

Cost - $12,000 to $17,000

In response to PattyTherre's comment from Mar 7, 2008 at 7:50PM:

You really could, Patty, especially if you took mine and used it as a template. Mine is really simple but perfect for VPs. Then again it's not worth it if it takes 4 hours and you agonize and sweat over it! Jo

Good job. I could never tackle a car review. I am so intimidated by the details! This review is excellent!
