When I'm feeling naughty, I watch Nip/Tuck on F/X. This show is about two plastic surgeons Christian Troy and Sean McNamara played by Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh and their adventures which mainly consist of sex. The show was set in Miami where the two men ran a plastic surgery practice, but now they work in Los Angeles. I thought the show might jump the shark like Laverne and Shirley did when they moved from Milwaukee to Los Angeles. What helps Nip/Tuck though is L.A. has more need for plastic surgery than any other city on the planet with aspiring actors and actresses who try to fit certain roles and aging celebrities who need plastic surgery in a city where aging is the biggest crime of all. Let's not forget those whose behavior gets them in trouble like the studio head in a recent episode who needed surgery after getting worked over by a dominatrix. Did I mention this show was naughty?
Since the move to L.A., there is a show within a show called "Hearts and Scalpels" which is a spoof of Nip/Tuck. The show has shot Sean into stardom while leaving Christian behind. This is a role reversal as in Miami Sean was more of a family man even though the family was dysfunctional while Christian was the handsome, charming playboy. Nip/Tuck has always explored beauty on the outside and the inside or the lack of it, and now L.A. will provide plenty of material and so will the doctors as they cope with aging and no doubt having sex in L.A.
