The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess for the Nintendo Wii is truely an amazing game. Those of us who are familiar with the Zelda series know that the allure of this game is not only in fun and challanging gameplay, but the thrill of seeing old favorites mixed in with new twists and story. Yes, the story can be slightly predictable at times, but for most die-hard Zelda fans, the storm-the-castle-save-the-princess is what we expect and what we want. I think I speak for most of us when I say this is the crowning jewel in the Zelda collection.
The fresh take on this game includes the Wii-mote gameplay, new characters, and also the whole Link-as-an-animal element. Playing the first time through, I was impressed again and again not only by the beautiful Wii graphics but also the entire artistry and depth of the game. The new character designs for Link and Princess Zelda only reitterate Nintendo's impressive ability to kick things up a notch without losing the personalities we gamers have all come to know and love. This game is gorgeous from forrest to dungeon. If I were a baddie in Hyrule, you can bet Link would have me shaking in my boots.
For those gamers looking for a challenging installment, they are not to be disappointed. While the Gamecube and DS versions supported a more child-friendly version of the famous adventure, Twilight Princess more than makes up for them with challanging temples, new elements, and let's face it, everything from shooting the sling shot to being a wolf is all new with the Wii controls. This game would have required gamers to be clever and talented on any previous systems, but Twilight Princess really asks a lot of a player's hand-eye coordination. I can't claim I was a quick learner, but there are enough opportunities to use each weapon for even us girls to be fierce competitors after some practice.
The story was also a breath of fresh air from the last few releases. I don't want to revel any spoilers, but the Wii installment definatly brings a darker element that has been missing since Mask. The story is beautiful and absorbs players compeletly. I can see myself playing this game over and over, and not just for bragging rights. The friends and foes in this game are easy to love and hate resectfully.
For those of us who are looking for a great classic from Nintendo, Twilight Princess is it.
