The video gam RED STEEL for the Nintendo Wii is nothing short of a new epoch in game play. It combines several genres of game play (Action, first person shooter, puzzle games, story based games, etc) and unites them with the the brilliant Wii controller interface.

What makes the game so unique is the way it is controlled. The Wii wireless control and the sometimes attached "nun-chuk" controller, represent an entirely new way to interact with a virtual world. RED STEEL makes use of this in a variety of ways.

You will need to master the basic control of the wireless Wii controller device in order to move around "In Game". Once you get the hang of it, you will then use the Wii controller as if it were various weapons such as a sword, pistol, machine gun, land mine, etc.

In the sword mode, you control the Wii controller as if it were the handle of a samurai sword. You unsheathe your sword with a quick motion (you get tutorials in game as you go), and sword fight with various bad guys.

In gun mode, you use the Wii controller as  a pistol and or machine gun, and use it to direct shots at enemies on the screen. Once you get used to picking up new guns and reloading, you get to use it as other weapons as well.

This is a very new way to work through a game. It lets you explore many of that facets of game play that the Wii opens up. If you don't have a Wii, get one, then get RED STEEL as your first game.

One thing to keep in mind. This game is somewhat violent. In the game you play a guy who hacks and slashes and shoots his way through a virtual Asian Mob underground. The bosses at each level get more and more eccentric and hard to beat. It is a satisfying story based combat game with very good cut scenes and graphics. The crime/violent theme keeps it from being for everybody as I would not say it's a game for kids under 13.

If you are looking for a great Wii game to let you see just what the Wii is capable of, and enjoy story based, action oriented game play, this game is for you!
