Nintendo Wii - Mario Party 8 —
Okay, first of all, this review is biased to a player of every Mario Party published. Now, with that being said, this a good game. It keeps up all the great things that we have grown to love with the series, while enhancing a few aspects, most notably adding the motion sensitive mini games. The single player mode of this game will bore you to tears after a few hours of play, but is a necessary evil to unlock some extras, i.e. Playable characters, awards and an extra board. The group play will enthrall you, especially if you are looking for that "family night" game to bring everyone together. My six year old has no problem with the majority of the games, so even the young kids can jump in. If you have your Wii set-up for widescreen, you will be disappointed with the lack of support. The graphics have been upgraded slightly from number 7, but most of the other items remain the same. If you are a fan of the series, you won't be disappointed, but if you are new to the series and going to play alone, I suggest to either get some friends or family to play with you, or wait until it is in the bargain bin at your local store.
