I firmly believe that Nintendo has been the progenitor of every major advance in video games since the introduction of the Famicom. The Wii does that through the motion sensors that everyone knows about - but it's flexible enough to handle traditional gameplay. To me, that's the genius of the device - you can play most games of your childhood quickly and easily. Plus, there's a power button on the controller to turn on the console. I bought the DVD remote for my Playstation 2 because I couldn't handle having to walk across the room to turn it on to play Guitar Hero II.
I'm here to praise the overlooked features of the Wii - the easy use, the ability to play older games easily, the web browser that has Flash (YouTube!), and that power button on the remote. The stuff people talk about - the motion controls, the Miis, the speaker in the remote - are also great, but everyone knows about those. I wanted to highlight what I felt were the overlooked features of the Wii.
