The fact that the Wii continues to be sold out a year from its introduction says everything. This is the must have item of the decade. With the new innovative controls to being half the price of most of its competition, Nintendo hit the mark with the Wii.
The fist compelling factor for the Wii is its price. At $250, it is half the price of the Playstation 3 and over $100 dollars less than the Xbox 360, which came out a year before the Wii. The Wii lacks high definition output, but that is a minor, and easily overlooked factor.
What the Wii lacks in graphics horsepower, it makes up for in gameplay. Using the Wii remote add a level of immersion that the other consoles cannot match. The Wii, intended or not, was made for first person shooters, and so far it has not disappointed. Metroid Prime 3, Resident Evil, and the use of the Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow training all showcase the fun and excitement that can be had with the Wii.
In addition, the Wii comes with Wii Sports, a collection of sports games that showcase what the Wii can do. Swing the remote like a golf club in golf, swing it like a bowling ball in bowling, the Wii was made for having fun.
The one drawback is the expense of buying batteries constantly for the remotes. The games are so addictive that the batteries will quickly run out. It is highly recommended that you use rechargeable batteries.
All in all, the Wii is well worth the price. Being cheaper, more fun, and more innovative that the competition makes the Wii a must buy.
