What can I say about the Wii? I waited...and waited...for nearly a year. I had a picture, cut out of an advertisement, on my fridge. I would look at that picture of the Wii and just sigh. Some people I knew had Wiis of their own. I did not. Emptiness and sorrow...

Then one day, my friend who works at a retailer who shall remain nameless called me... she said "got $250?" -OMG I actually did have some spare cash!- "Get down here" she said "I'll have them hold it for you" Oh I ran, boys and girls. I knew this was going to be epic. EPIC I tell you! I blew off a pool party to rush to the establishment which never had a darn Wii the seven hundred times I'd stopped in to ask. I tried very hard not to break the speed limit... (may have failed there) And there it was... the holy grail of gaming excellence... and it was MINE! the triumph! the glory! oh it was a day of days! the wait, as they say, was finally over.

rush home. plug the thing in to the other thing. where does this thingy go? oh that's cool. hmmm. it's so... small. the blue glow of the CD drive... nice. the pretty sounds of the menus... soothing. the controllers... so ergonomic. I think this may be love.

And then it was time for... Super Smash Brothers Brawl! fast forward to 4am. my man and I, glassy eyed, dry-mouthed, and not wanting to go to bed. sleep is so over-rated!
Day 2: BOXING! nothing is better for a marriage. I can whoop my hubby's butt all the day through. The catharsis! oh man! I honestly believe if my brother and I had boxing on the Wii when we were growing up... my poor mother may have remained sane. ;)

Now, I want to be clear. I love gaming. My husband loves gaming. We would both have very nice cars if we did not have this gaming addiction. You may not become so enamored of the Wii that you stay up until 4 am the first night you have it. I may be a weirdo. But it has been 3 months, and I still love my Wii. I imagine it will be a staple of the Cloud household for all time. It's so Awesome, people.

In the time we've owned our Wii, we've used nearly every feature. We've downloaded classic games (oh Super Mario World, how I missed you). We've downloaded Wii Ware, original games available only for download. We've played online with strangers and friends. We've taken our controllers, complete with our Mii's, over to our friend's houses for Wii bowling parties. I could write a a whole review on each of these features. They're all pretty darn cool.

I know that when I'm finally able to find a Wii Fit, I will become the happiest person on the planet. I now have a picture of the Wii Fit on my fridge. Goals are important, folks. :D
I simply cannot wait until I can utilize the Wii at its fullest potential. Because the original reason I bought it was for the health benefits. A video game system that requires actual physical movement?!?!? YESSSSS! My tubby butt needs that kinda ingenuity! But you can really get by with just the boxing, exercise-wise. The boxing fitness challenge section is so phenomenal for burning calories, and it comes with the console!

Bottom line time.
If you're buying a Wii to get some exercise, just pick up the box and an extra controller and nunchuck, so you can box your family. You will sweat. hard.
If you want to play games from the nintendo library, they're pretty cheap to download. And the nostalgia is soooo sweet!
If you want to be able to enjoy playing video games with your kids, the Wii is perfect!
if you love FPS games and RPG's, maybe the Wii isn't for you... yet. The graphics really do lend themselves more to cutesy stuff than to Gears of War or whatever. But that's not what the Wii is about.

The Wii is about togetherness and fun and nostalgia and movement...

It's kind of like Tivo... Before you have it, you don't know. After you get it, you can't imagine life without it. and that's really the bottom line.
