The Original Handheld and Awesome as Hell (Still).

5

Yes it is in black & white and the game quality is 1970s but the Gameboy is now and will remain a classic to us gaming aficionados. The Gameboy was the ultimate in finally making those terribly long car rides and insanely slow doctor appointments so much more bearable. I mean honestly I owned maybe 5 or 6 games but I can't recall any other than Tetris and the hundreds if not thousands of hours straining my vision at play. Graphics Quality Black & White. Gritty.

CLASSIC!!

It is the original portable video gaming system and it is classic. It is great for killing time here and there but the only con to it is that it is a little heavy. The graphics don't compare to the graphics of the portable video gaming systems of today but you are still able to distinguish between good guys and bad guys and can visibly see what is what. The game boy is a very durable portable video gaming system. I dropped mine all the time when I was a kid and now some 20+ years later it still works. Graphics Quality The 3 is as I compare it to the graphics of portable video gaming systems of today. At the time when the game boy first came out it was a 10 for graphics. Game Variety When it came out there were so many games for it. I still have lots of games for mine. Controller Comfort I have to say its pretty comfortable to me. I also have to tell you that I don't play for hours on end. Ease of Use It is very easy to use. Durability I have 2 game boys and quite a bit of games that I've had some 20+ years and they still work as they did back when I was a kid.

This old Game Boy Console is so old, but such a classic. It was my first Game Boy and I loved it. I mostly played Pokemon and Leap Frog. While the graphics would be considered horrible in this day, I still love picking up this old, unique gaming device and reminisce on the good old days.

The Game Boy is the grandaddy of handheld gaming.

I have had my old gray brick Game Boy for almost twenty years, and during that time it has been dropped numerous times and I even left it outside in the rain once, and it still works great. Nintendo is known for making durable products, and this is no exception. There were many great games released for the Game Boy during its lifetime. Super Mario Land 1 and 2, Tetris, and The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening are all amazing, and the minimalistic graphics and lack of color has no negative effect on how much fun they are. The only problem is that the Game Boy eats up batteries very quickly. There are third party options for recharchable batteries, but I can't vouch for the quality of those products. In short, if you want to play great games and don't mind how fast it eats batteries and the simple graphics, then the Game Boy is a great system.

fun gameboy

The gameboy was first before any of the major small console systems. Before the PSP, DS Lite and all of the modern systems was Nintendo's good old Game Boy. It was very much like the Nintendo NES system. It had the same type of grey color on the cover along with the black arrow movement buttons and the red A and B buttons on the right. Also like the Nintendo NES was the start and select buttons in the middle. Nintendo did a great job replicating the NES system in a very small form factor that could fit in your pocket. That was their aim and they succeeded quite well. There are a ton of games for this sytem, literally every kind of genre of gaming is in at least one cartridge for the gameboy. There are puzzles, roleplaying games, very limited shooting games, sports games, and on. The gameboy uses up batteries pretty quickly, but perhaps it's not that it was inefficient or power hungry but that the gamer (me) played it too long. All in all this was fantastic and I loved mine.

Still good

If you look at it at face value, the Game Boy original is a pretty puny system. In fact, its graphics are not that great, it only has the typical monotone grey for coloring, the controls are limited, and it is bulky and fat, not sliim at all... etc. However, you have to consider the timeframe that it thrived. At the time of its introduction, the Nintendo was a innovative product that brought mobile andportable gaming to the masses in America and the world. And although it is weak in today's standards, I can tell you that there are games on the Nintendogameboy that are still amusing and fun today. But, you would look a bit awkward, however, for carrying such a bulky device since everyone is all about slim portables these days. Such classics like tetris, mario, and zelda, resonate with millions of gameboy players who, at one point in their life, enjoyed such classic games. And if you find one of these at a garage sale for a low price, I highly recommend that you purchase one. The Game Boy has been replaced, but it's not gone, and it's still good today.

Not very good

I personally hated my gameboy at the time, and I'm glad that today's portable gaming options are a lot more robust. Perhaps I just received a defective Gameboy from Nintendo but mine always seemed to crash after several minutes of playing (around the one hour or so mark). The screen would droop as if it was melting. What I mean is that the shaders that would draw out your character and draw whatever else on the screen would droop vertically toward the bottom of the screen after several minutes of play. It was somewhat like you suddenly removed the battery from the game boy, that's what it resembled. Battery life was also an issue, although I suppose I can't blame the gameboy much on that one. When your battery is giong low you can tell from the red light on the top right corner going dimmer and dimmer, and I seemed to see it get dim quite often. Anyhow, I had some bad issues and experiences with mine and do not recommend this product. Besides, there's much better options out there today.

Great gift

I received this as a gift long time ago and wow, I felt like I was king of the world (kind of) when I first received this. You see, this gaming system was THE thing to get long time ago. This was like equivalent to scoring an XBOX 360, PS3, and a wii all in one for the time that this thing was first introduced to the public. It had a screen, and it was quite small. No color. This is a lot inferior to the multi plane, touchscreen, with full color, of the new Nintendo DS Lite, but Nintendo started with the original Game Boy. This is the grandfather of portable gaming. I particularly remember playing Tetris on the gameboy (my gameboy came with a tetris cartridge) and I remember playing a lot Zelda. Zelda is a game that has blown up in popularity just like the Gameboy and I believe it has a lot to do with how it played out on the Gameboy console. From Gameboy it really evolved into N64 and then later the Wii. The Gameboy has arrows for movement, and 2 buttons for actions. It's an oldtimer and great system to have.

Classic gaming

5

The first best hope of portable gaming was with this device, and it was a smashing success. The Game Boy had a great amount of good games and Nintendo was smart enough to pack in the game Tetris with all new copies of the Game Boy system. Many successful games were released from not only Nintendo, but from third party companies as well. Many people liked the idea of being able to game on the go, even if not in color. Tetris on the go was a great idea and a great success. Unlike the Sega Game Gear, the Game Boy was a moderate user of batteries, which was a real advantage toward the Game Gear, which had much better graphics and color. But with games like Super Mario Land and later Pokemon, Sega did not stand a chance. A nice feature, more used later on than at first, was the ability to link up Game Boys to each other with a link cable. Not a neccessary feature, but a nice one nevertheless. This is where the portable gaming started.

amazing

when i first got this console,i was amazed. all the games were amazing. the game play is awesome. there are no downsides to this product. the games always worked fine, sometimes needed a blow to get the dust out, but, when that was done, it worked perfectly. the A and B buttons are in the perfect spot for game play. i would most definatly reccoment this to anybody into gaming. the best part about it, is its portability.   it can fit in some pockets, and the games are too small. they are cartrage like and dont take up much space at all.
