Between the three of my kids we owned a total of five of these Gameboy SP (black, silver, red and 2 blue ones). I'm big on portable games so I thought they would be a good value. The first one purchased was when they first came out. At that time I think the cost was around $80. Somehow my son's screen was broken. It was all cracked on the inside. I called for a replacement but by the time I shipped it and waited for the long turn around, it wasn't worth it. The next year the SP was on sale at Walmart during Black Friday for $50. I purchased two more because the kids were sharing one. After a couple of months, the screen went blank on the blue one. It wouldn't show anything. Then a couple months after that the Red screen developed red, white and blue lines across the screen. I thought it was the games but it was in the system. So I had bad experiences with the SP. I know you are probably saying that they kids did something to them but they are very careful with their games. We have a variety of game systems and electronic toys that are working and never had any problems. The SP is not a favorite in our household.
